There’s nothing to be gained singling out people. I could see a team not functioning today. We’ll need Adrian in the next few weeks, so people don’t realise they could make this situation even worse with their reaction. Stick behind the team and the players.

Why vvd or klopp didn't realise we needed to play 10 yards deeper, why did we forget the whole team work ethic.

We’ve been playing like this for years. We won’t be playing deeper, this would be capitulating towards the face of adversity. Best defence in the league over the last 2 years.

I think a big part of it is a lack of leadership there was no-one in there telling people what to do where to go, to calm down, take 5 mins or whatever. If Henderson was in there there is no way that this happens, he may be less influential but the same probably applies to Milner too (I know he played a bit but it was already 6-2 when he came on). I think that there are (still) too many players that don't take responsibility and look to others to dictate what happens.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I also think Gini and Keita didn't particularly contribute to the press today, making it easy for them to play their way out. Henderson would have helped there.

Well that was **** but it was also compounded by very bad luck. It was a terrible day at the office.

Up to the team to get past it psychologically. All humans make mistakes and this team did 97 and 99 points on the trot. It was bound to happen.

Harsh on joe gomez to say he can't partner VVD when he's been a big part of the success the last two seasons.

One positive was Jota, he's obviously still fitting in and is a bit too unselfish or hesitant on occasions but he took up very good positions in the box and was generally strong on the ball.

Gini was just as ineffectual as Naby today. Been ****e this season.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

It's not a worry against them, because they won't do what Villa did. Ancelotti cancels us out, he doesn't take us on.

Today was just a perfect storm. It doesn't happen with Mane in the team because of his pressing, it doesn't happen with Hendo (or Milner) in the team because of their leadership, and it doesn't happen with Alisson in the team because of his brilliance. All three were missing, and on top of that we had 3 freak deflected goals to make a deserved hammering even more embarrassing.

Fair play to Villa, they were brilliant. It does us no harm in the long term to learn a few lessons about the weaknesses in the way we play though, and which players are essential for it to work.

Looked good first half. I have to say though I forgot he was playing second half until late on. Assumed he had been taken off in one of the changes

I think that Henderson,(or Milner to a lesser extent) tell the midfield what to do, Gini, Naby and Fabinho don't do that, they are all fairly quiet. Similarly I think Mane up front leads the pressing we didn't have any of that today and it showed.

All 3 of the midfield were dreadful tonight.

Was getting praised for 'his work in restricting Auba' against Arsenal but I didn't notice anything other than an above average display then either. Jones is such a better midfielder than him it's embarrassingly noticeable.
Yeah, he's had more than enough time now. He reminds me a bit of Litmanen, in that loads of us want him to do well, and he has done some brilliant things for us, but ultimately he just doesn't impose himself often enough. We could do with Oxlade-Chamberlain back for that position.
