The kids being mentally strong is 100% down to Klopp I reckon. He knows exactly how to prepare a player mentally. To make them feel like a world beater but with that all important humility.

Which other team has had 4 players under 20 perform so well at such a level? We've looked at the teamsheet pre match this season and seen Kelleher, Williams, Phillips and weve feared the worst and they've all gone on to play incredibly well.

And Jones is just next level.

But a 19 year old CB holding his own against the massively lauded Kane and Son. Impressive.

He’s another very calm young player. Much like Kelleher and Jones. Does his job without any fuss as if he’s done it for years.
      Are we winning?

To be fair Spurs could have scored three more goals but I thought his heading was van Dijkesque and his carrying was Matipesque.

Yeah, only concern for me was lack of pace, some of that might be positional naivety but he is doing well.

Bergwijns opportunities came from his side, but he's not exactly playing with a defensive fullback next to him, he practically has a wide midfilder and defensive midfielder either side of him. Fantastic start from him and we might have a player for the future on our hands, so maybe we only need to buy one centre half and not two.

The 2 times Rhys missed headers early in the 2nd half allowed the Bergwijn chances. I thought they were both poor decisions, he misjudged both, got underneath the first one and didn't get close to the second one but other than that I thought he did really well.

Yep....that was my feeling as well. Other than that (could have been costly, yes), I thought he was excellent. Very assured with the ball as well, and spreading it out.
If there's one place it's hard to learn your trade, its in our defence with the constant chopping and changing, but he's done very well when called upon.

So, he WAS the weakest defender but for a first league game and against that opposition it was a fantastic debut and he deserves a big pat on the back.

On Saturday Zaha will probably be the one to watch, and players cutting in from the left wing like him have been problematic for us this season.

I think everyone agrees, he was fantastic, 19 years old and he already might be an equal option to Lovren, with better passing. Matip might be back for the weekend but Rhys will get more time, deservedly.

Young Rhys will probably be making a few more Champions League appearances in 2021 - so he will get more games. I'm sure he will get better and better.

He gets a pass for a few missed headers, it certainly wasn't a tit**** Bramble performance!

Watching the highlights he played one beautiful pass out of defence that bellied the status of the game and the fact it was his debut. Went marauding forward a few times (Hendo had his back) which showed a fair bit of confidence.

He had a good game and unlucky with the son goal.

The one nagging doubt I have with him being in the team long term is his pace. As Klopp, likes to play a high line, it helps to have pace to recover.

VVD, Gomez and Matip do for example.

But he's got his chance now so up to him to take it.

I still can't get over his journey in the last 12 months, it's proper Boys Own stuff.

At the start of the season, Chesterfield were near the foot of the National League and their manager at the time, John Pemberton, actually tried to sign him on loan. He'd been his manager at Kidderminster the year before and obviously rated him. That the manager of a team about 20th in the Conference thought he had a chance to sign and actually tried to sign a Liverpool player who has gone on to do the things Rhys is doing now, speaks volumes about where he started the season and where he's at now - some four months later. It's ****ing mental.

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I wonder what Herbie Cain makes of it?

It's all about attitude. You've either got what it takes or you have not. To be capable of the journey that Williams has been on is what defines the haves from the the have nots.

He must be a true inspiration to all the loanees out there.
