I'm as pissed off as anyone with today's result, but surely the extenuating circumstances are there for everyone to see.
We've been robbed of two points today, and also at Everton. Fine margins and three quarters of the season to play for. There will be many more points dropped. By everyone.
We were at about half strength today and would have won if not for that farce at the end. Or the Salah offside, take your pick really.
Brighton outplayed both United and Chelsea without getting a result so it isn't like they're a bad side. Its disappointing and things really aren't going our way at the moment but we have to believe things will balance out. If they do, we have a good chance.
If we'd have remained near full strength we'd have walked the league again.Vive la France

Just a few points to throw into the mix:
1)If the Everton game hadn't panned out as it did, I don't think the fixture schedule would have been as big an issue as it is (for us). To have two world class players taken out like that just adds to any injury woes that occur during the season. It still feels like there hasn't been closure from that game in terms of some sort of acknowledgement or apology that the officials got it wrong.
2) Following on from that, the FA have changed the rules twice from start of season. One for the silly handballs and another for the 'clear and obvious' overrule. So what sort of season is this? Can teams that have already been impacted by those rules go back and say results should have been different? The changes seem to just happen with no real liability taken by the FA. The toenail offside rule might be next.
3) Lastly, we seem to have suffered more from Covid than other team (in terms of personnel catching it). To be harsh and maybe even a little balanced, the squad should have taken more responsibility not to catch it. This obviosly has not helped in a congested fixture schedule
Anyway my two-cents worth.

Our team selection is like trying to plug holes in a sinking boat, the Jones at RB was indicative of that. Milner was already playing out of position there and I did think sticking Jones there was odd, but when you think about it we had very few options. Fabinho would have been a better option there, but he couldn't have been moved out of the centre of defence as the only option would have been to have a CB pairing of Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips, which obviously we didn't want to do. We could have stuck Henderson there but needed him in CM. We are literally down to the bones. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Maybe but if Klopp preferred to play a midfielder out of position presumably he doesn't think either can play on the right.Originally posted by S-RED View Postthought maybe Tsimikis on & robbo to RB could have been an option; not at all ideal, but at least a full backThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Despite this result we are likely to still be third come the end of the weekend and depending on the Spurs Chelsea result it could just be GD that keeps us off the top as long as long as Spurs don't beat Chelsea (assuming Leicester beat Fulham on Monday), still not a bad position to be in, although obviously 2 extra points would be really useful

All the way - scrap for it this season then cruise to three in a row the year after.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostYeah that was a **** game. But I’m not ruling us out. It’s going to be tight. It’s going to be nerve wracking. But I reckon we will be on with a strong shout.
The fact that we are up and amongst it when the side has been devastated by injury is impressive.
You can’t ignore the injury list, or play it down. You are talking about 6 or 7 starters out at a time with 2-3 strong deputies. Once we get a few back it will make a huge difference.
Losing Milner is a nightmare. He is a brilliant deputy RB and Williams looks a long way off.
We won it last year. We will be strong nest season. This season is going to be a battle. But we are up for that right?
Who’s with me

I saw his MOTD interview which must have been after that and he expressed some regret at getting drawn into that. He knows there is a degree of baiting.Originally posted by Irishnev View Post
But to be honest he should have avoided that subject - it was his ‘congratulations’.
It’s not going to change this season so as galling as it is he needs to get on with it.
Equally, Des Kelly seemed set to get his (BT’s) POV out there. The player welfare issue is the main thing, and the amount of injuries is absolutely nuts now.Modifying post.

I've mentioned this before, but I don't understand why the PFA isn't raising this point.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI saw his MOTD interview which must have been after that and he expressed some regret at getting drawn into that. He knows there is a degree of baiting.

To be honest I'm getting close to being done with elite football. It's turned to ****e. No joy in it any more. Might give wolves a miss and take it from there.
