That's what I said at the time, did VAR look at it for the offside and the foul? If you see the video from the side the cross comes in from he's all over Fabinho and stops him from jumping. I've no idea what VAR looks at now, and I don't want to go all conspiracy theory on this, but I can't help but feel if that was us doing that VAR disallows it.Originally posted by BG1973 View PostNo idea how that's not a foul. Stopped fab jumping. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It will go to the wire but I think we need to buy/loan a CB in the Jan window......Williams and/or Phillips cannot be our solution - Matip will no doubt miss a month nowOriginally posted by Buzzo View Post15 games and three points clear at the top.
It was a bad performance but it’s been a decent start to the season from us.

I think we are the only team that looks capable of buildings lead at the top. Today was huge, because a 5 point lead would take a bit of pulling back from us.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostIt will go to the wire but I think we need to buy/loan a CB in the Jan window......Williams and/or Phillips cannot be our solution - Matip will no doubt miss a month now
But yeah, overall it feels like we are going to have to battle for it this season.
I think we need reinforcements at the back also, as, we literally cannot afford another injury back there.Modifying post.

I think we lack ideas going forwards. It feels like if we hit enough crosses in something will land for us. Often it does. Today it didn't. This is the sort of game we miss Virgil. Last year he scored from corners in these tight games. Jota missing is massive as he's the one that has looked hot. He carries the ball and moves it quickly. Today like a lot of the season, it very slow, more often than not our opponents want us to have the ball. 84% possession means nowt if you have one shot on target.
Thiago cannot come back quick enough.
Strange subs today. Very late introducing Ox and the 2 minutes origi got were pointless. Why not keep Bobby on? He literally almost scored the move before he came off.
That's 4 times in a row Sam has ****ed us. Once he's lucky, 4 times, he knows what he's doing against us. In this instance the game was similar to spurs. We got a late winner in that, today the keeper saved at the last. Fine margins.
3 games away from home. Let's hope we're more palace than Fulham.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

We are top scorers in the league with 37, the next highest is 30. After 15 games.
Our issue lies as stated above with the ever changing centre backs. If we had a tighter defence we’d be miles ahead. We seem to struggle to keep a clean sheet this season.Modifying post.

It happens to all good teams at some stage. I remember when Rijkaard's and then later Pep's Barca were both supposedly 'found out' when Getafe and the like played similar tactics to today by keeping it narrow and playing deep. They narrowly lost or drew a couple of games with Dani Alves putting a million horrendous balls into the box, not unlike us today.
It is something I'm sure Klopp is aware of and need to prepare some plans - I thought that we could perhaps play one of our midfielders a bit higher and switch to more of a 4-2-3-1. It's hardly the end of the world and it happens to all teams. Man City also drew with WBA if that's anything to go with anyway.

I thought we did similar against spurs but actually got a few more shots off. Hendo to salah, to hendo to trent, to Hendo, chipped cross in, see what happens.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostToday yes, but normally no.

Stick your mince pie up your backside. He was crap all game and gave the ball away showboating which led to their goal. There are better players than him sat on the bench so it’s a no brainier.Originally posted by BG1973 View PostLol.
Think people need to go and have a mince pie and come back on weds.

what puzzles & frustrates me...it was as clear as day that we weren't at the races in the 2nd half , so why wasn't a change made earlier...why wait until the 82 minute , Ox or Shaq should have come on for the last half hour to wrestle back some momentum....I think the addition of Thiago will help in the future in such games
But at least we are still top & unless the Blue****e win by 10 goals tomorrow night we still will be when we play again.Last edited by Barnie7; 27-12-20, 11:27 PM.

By normal standards it is a good start for a title chasing team. Only reason it might feel anything less than that is down to the mad levels that us and City had been producing prior to this season.
Is not all that long ago when we were long gone from title conversations before the 1st December so three seasons in a row being top at Xmas is a massive uptick in both form and consistency.
Today was a let down, but said it before, and still think it, that we will go up a level in the second half of the season and if we get Thiago fit (and even the bonus of a good CB brought in) I can see us stretching our lead and staying five to six points clear from March onwards.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
