We played well.

Each goal was down to defensive mistake. We had great attacking shape and made some decent chances. Utd are a much improved team there wasn’t much between us.

We definitely don’t need the distraction of FA cup. Spurs away next. Intriguing game.

Just watched extended highlights - it seemed an open game with a lot of chances. Looked like we could have had more and same for them. I feel sorry for Williams who looks way out of his depth up against elite pace with the world looking on.

Given we have 2 games per week between league and (hopefully) CL and even if Matip stays fit he will only play once a week. We are reliant on Fab being a machine and a mix of Hendo, Nat or Rhys to partner him every other game - frightening when you think about it.

If money is tight now wait til people see what we spend if we miss out on top 4

I think to show how difficult things are for us, imagine we’d been playing Utd today and their CB pairing was Mctominay and some kid we’d never heard off.

It’s offering the opposition such a huge morale boost to have to play such a weakened back 2.

you are right, but i do not think there is another top 6 club that would not have looked at the situation & not signed cover on Jan 1; smacks of complete arrogance that we are invincible & much better than everyone else.

The off field side of LFC have screwed over the playing squad & i think it will be a painful journey back, even when VVD & joe G are back. Teams now know we are not unbeatable, pretty much what man city had to endure last season.

If we spent some money on an half decent defender and managed to wrangle a deal and brought back Suarez this window, our title challenge would take off. Suarez in this side would be just what we needed now.

It was an open game with chances for both teams. We attacked better and scored 2 from open play which is a great sign following our recent blanks.

Both teams very guilty of giving the ball away cheaply in attacking areas. They countered better than we did with Rashfords pace. Nit having Hendo + Williams at CB added to that succeeding more than it should have.

With decent CB their goals don’t happen. I think we would have edged the win.

With Matip back for spurs, we should do better but our attack has to carry the team as we will concede more often than not.

I’m not fussed about loosing that. Less games for out stretched squad. Focus on our league results and a strong CL run. Just glad we know we can still score goals so hope that gives the front 3 the boost they need to carry on.

Can anyone explain why Nat Phillips who has more senior first team experience (although no world beater) is not a better option than Williams who is too naive and out of his dept? Why has Taki not got a start since scoring and trashing Palace?

I think Phillips is even slower. It was Palace we thrashed and I've no idea why he didn't start the next game at home to west brom.

Philips maybe slower in a sprint but maybe he has better physical strength and can also start from better positions to gain a yard, etc.
Hansen always used to say the first couple of yards were in your head, so experience counts.

I had to make do with the radio yesterday as I was in work, but watching it now Williams seems to have made a half arse effort to get the ball as he was oblivious to Rashford being there.
