    Burnley v Liverpool Match thread

    Wednesday night at 8:15.

We have to be buzzing after yesterday. We don't want all that effort, luck, gods intervention, miracle, etc. to have been for nothing.

I would be up for us racing into an early three goal lead tbh. The amount of times I have totally and completely accepted we aren't getting top four only for us to haul ourselves back into the race is getting ridiculous. Yesterday I was absolutely at peace with it, even as the corner went in yesterday. What a strange season.

I'm amazed we've essentially given ourselves a shot at this tbh. That run of games in Janurary through to March was brutal, funnily enough it was probably the FA cup exit vs the Mancs where we showed we can score again and got us moving forwards again.

I think Leicester winning tomorrow would be preferable for us as well, Chelsea would be under a fair amount of pressure with 1 game to go and potentially out of their hands but also with one eye on the final as well.

Since winning at United and being sucked back in again in terms of hopes, this is the game I had down as the one where we'll **** it up. With 10 to go yesterday, I was resigned to ****ing it at West Brom, but here we are. This is the one imo.

Chris Wood will be a threat but if there's a type ready made for big Nat, it's probably someone like Wood.

Once again, it’s the hope that kills.

Agree re Chavs- bigger cunts, richer so potentially more of a threat, closer in points and having just lost the FA Cup final in such circumstances and thinking about the CL Final they might just fall apart completely if they lose tomorrow.
        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I'm not sure about tomorrows game, but I tend to agree on Leicester winning being the best result. Which is typically not the result I see happening as Chelsea can rotate pretty much their entire team.

The flip side is Leicester have Spurs last, with Harry Kane needing to get goals for the golden boot and Spurs themselves needing points to guarantee Europa.

          It's a difficult one.

Lets just leave it to God and see what happens

Defo. Leicester losing would still mean it would be mathematically possible for both Leicester and Chelsea to both finish ahead of us even if we won both our games.

Chelsea losing or getting a draw would put our fate totally in our own hands.

Likewise, pretty surprised we are in this position. I didn't see Chelsea slipping up against Arsenal.

Not beating West Brom would have been such a buzzkill after the Manc game. But we've put so much pressure on Leicester and Chelsea. They'll have to go full throttle in that game.

I can't see Leicester beating Chelsea twice but i'd love to see it (or a draw). If Chelsea do win i hope they do it by 5 or 6.

I’m back in there with ya again

Agree re Phillips and Wood but if we play to our proper level like we did against United for parts we’ll smash them. The problem is we are back to bare bones now again - we had Woodburn on the bench ffs

With regards to this being the “one” - all 4 had elements of bring the “one”

                - United away
                - Rotund Sam
                - Burnley away and Dycheball
                - The Owls’ last game

Get over Burnley and Palace - plenty of history there also

A Chelsea win is definitely the least preferable outcome, but if they do I hope it's by at least 3 or 4 goals. That will at least take care of the goal difference, barring Leicester beating Spurs by 5 or 6.

Assuming we win each of ours even by just 1 goal.

                        Thats a good point.

It is possible to see positives in almost every outcome. Which leaves it down to us which may be the problem.

That we are having to do all of this with Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams at centre back is something I am not sure will ever be truly appreciated. I definitely didnt know who Rhys Williams was last season.

As was said in comms that I listened to, they are learning on the job at the top level. It is amazing to witness. And, as with yesterday, we have to accept the mistakes.

Does a draw between Chelsea and Leic mean anything for us, in that we could afford to draw one of the final 2 games, or is it win both for us no matter what?

Edit: Nevermind, a draw does nothing for us really.

I think a draw means if we win both our games we are definitely top 4 as Chelsea couldnt catch us.
