Looks like PSG are signing the other Bournemouth CB who is only 22 I think. Might mean Konate isn’t going there, but that still leaves one other club looking at him or maybe a new contract is closer now. Hopefully looking at the incomings he’d be excited to stay for a bit longer.

If he wants to leave he can leave but the time is now. He's not been so good that we can't replace him. We need to make that decision now, if he has a year to go on his contract. We ought to be getting an idea of whether he wants to stay or not.

Perfectly true, but at this stage we ought to know - or have an idea - as to whether he is likely to sign a new deal. If our expectation is no, we should be making it clear to potential buyers that he is available. If he simply wants to run down his contract, and so leave on a free, then there is not much we can do about that. If it's a negotiation over wages or whatever, then great.

A 20m cost that significantly increases chances of CL qualification and having another chance at winning PL/Cl is worth accepting.

Just checked and Hughes signed both these players when he was at Bournemouth

If he significantly increased our chances, then yes I would agree, but similar to TAA that's quite difficult to say and believe because there are so many other variables, not least of which would be the signing of a replacement.

I just don't think that either of those players are as significant as you do given we would get replacements. Salah, VvD etc perhaps a different story.
