With regards to the friendlies - we use them to build endurance, other clubs do intense training. The risk is there with either tbh

Given there is almost four weeks left in the transfer window, I find it a bit worrying we are saying Philips might not get a move because of the Konate injury.

Sort of hints that Konate will be out for longer than that four weeks.

Hope not as the drop off in quality from our four main CBs to Philips is massive.

Seems to be a lot of our back up players picking up injuries pre season this time around.

Tsimikas, Kelleher, Jones, Chamberlain, Keita and Konate (though whether Konate is a back up or starter is debatable).

Just puts us in a position where we could be a bit light if some of the starters who often pick up knocks do so once the season begins.

Pointless keeping Philips IMO. Gomez, Hendo, Fab, Spearing would all be picked ahead of him, so I just can't see him playing. I'd cash in.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

hendo was a nightmare at CB in the season before last, keeping Phillips makes absolute sense.

I don't agree with playing any of those players there, but due to Philips lack of place, I'm sure Klopp sees them all as better options.

I think it would take 2 or 3 injuries and a change of style again before Philips would be considered.

Did he get MOTM? He deserved it. He was fantastic. Dealt with a really tricky opponent in Osimhen really well. He made quite a few Matip-like runs into midfield and used the ball really well.

How the feck did Osimhen not get a yellow for the double foul on Konate? But gave one to Konate later despite the diving and over acting by Napoli players. Absolutely **** reffing.

He was superb & if that is the difference having him vs Gomez at CB. Osimhen would have bullied Gomez and bounced him around the place. Love our aggressive approach, lads really getting stuck in & Konate and VVD were at the forefront of that.

We were doing it all over the pitch against a team that was hapuy to give it back. Was great to see.

But we need to make sure it was not a once off now and do the same against Spurs, Derby and Southampton before the season stops for the Sports wash cup.

                      absolutely

Milner was biting into tackles in that midfield in fairness to him he was excellent. That is the level of aggression we need, we were the same vs City. It's galling to see us play with that intensity and aggression but yet not be able to bring anything that to the likes of Leeds or Forest. You just cannot do that for the "big" games, they are all big games.

                        Pretty much.

The teams with less skill than us, we must match their aggression and then beat them with skill.

The teams that match us in ability, we need to out do them in aggression/pressing to tip the balance.

Cannot keep turning up for some and then flopping a game or two later.

Napoli really impressed me in both games though and in the few Serie A games I watched them in this year. Proper mix of workrate, snide and skill in them.

More than a few players there that I would love to see in our starting XI as well though they would cost silly money now.

Yeah, that us a weird anomaly this season. When we are good we look really good (City, parts v Ajax away and last night) When we are **** we are awful.

Konate adds simething at both ends of the pitch the JG and JM dont. Thinking about it he was first choice partner for Virgil in the run in last season when we were unstoppable.

Keeping clean sheets, specifically in the first ten mins, will help us win a lot more games. Constantly chasing is not ideal.

Pretty sure he was diest choice in the CL games only.

I think he is different to Matip, but not better (yet). His pace and strength are a big asset, but Matip has an air of clamness.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
