Bring back big Nat! Maybe he was the one coaching the defence and showing them how to do it in training. Vlahka and Charly were right.

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Literally all the established players are turning to ****. New manager, I'm sure his form improves.

Nah don't buy that to be honest.

There is no legislating for Konates brain fart against Leeds. If a young player making his debut did that you'd bomb him out for months.

There is no way they can give him a new contract right now. ****in idiot

What makes you think that? Like it or not he has always been prone to a stupid mistake, and even when he hasn't made mistakes as such there are quite a lot of times where you think he's been lucky there not to get booked/sent off/give away a penalty, maybe he's just not getting that luck now. Obviously confidence comes into this too, when confidence is low you are more likely to make mistakes, maybe a new manager gives him more confidence in the short term but I'm not convinced that changes things significantly. I think that he has always been reliant on VVD (he falls to bits when VVD doesn't play) and I think Virgil is struggling this season too and that is having an impact on Konate.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Unfortunately for him, he does a lot of good things, but he is a bit too many times at the crime scene,” Slot told the press. A direct reference to the penalty conceded by the French defender and, more broadly, to his involvement in several goals conceded.

“I heard this in England: it means he’s involved in the goals we concede,” the coach insisted, clearly putting the spotlight on his player...

Why repeatedly play him then? Why let Quansah go? Why didn't we prioritise Guéhi?

The first part is easy to answer, the second part at the time was with fans appr9val as he was deemed not good enough and the third part was because we were embroiled in the Isak transfer

I also think we figured that the Guehi transfer was a done deal, and did not expect Palace to pull out at the last minute when their manager had a strop.

They must have thought that Guehi was a sure thing. Also, to be fair, Leoni would probably be playing now instead of Konate had he not had this injury. That is terrible luck.

The fact that Slot has called Konate out like that though suggests that he won't be in the team for the next game. The fella in the anfield wrap made a good point the other day too - the way the fixtures are coming now, we can take Konate out of the team for about 3 or 4 weeks and only miss the same number of games. So hopefully Gomez can manage inter, Brighton, Spurs and Leeds between now and 2nd of Jan.

If the club have someone lined up to come in on 1st Jan then we might not see Konate much more. If he isn't going to sign a new contract, then surely we will buy someone in Jan. Would be great if it was Guehi but if not then we need someone else. Can't wait until the end of the Jan window either imo

Guehi had recorded his goodbye video to Palace (It was leaked in September), had recorded his first videos for our club and had passed his medical. He was on his way to the contract signing when the plug was pulled on the deal.

The owner of Palace has come out and said that the delay was on the Palace end as they wanted him to play in their European games and the game against Villa. The Villa game was originally due to be played a few days earlier but the schedules got changed thanks to the European games and Palace going from the Europa league to the Conference league.

There was literally nothing we could have done differently with the Guehi deal (other than pull out of it ourselves)as Palace had a timeline they wanted/needed to follow.

Lets hope that works out and Gomez can get through that period and put in some good perfrormances, hopefully come the start of the January window we can have a deal for another CB wrapped up, so we at least have options for the rest of the season

Would love to see us try for Schlotterbeck tbh. Bastoni would be my dream signing (as close to a VVD style CB that is out there right now imo) but Schlotterbeck is close to Bastoni imo.

Both do prefer to play in the same LCB position as VVD so would be genuine competion for the captain along with being a potential replacement.

Problem with Schlotterbeck is that Real Madrid are rumoured to be targetting him instead of Konate now.
