Just been reading some of the reports from the game and saw this in the Echo:

After that incident (the red card/penalty), Taylor subsequently gave Liverpool precisely no free-kicks, a remarkable statistic even allowing for new directives to let the game flow - and given Chelsea attempted 30 tackles over the course of the game.

They were penalised just four times - one of which was an aerial challenge, the other the James handball. Liverpool? 20 attempted tackles, 13 fouls given.
So we attempted 20 tackles and conceded 13 fouls, Chelsea attempted 30 tackles and conceded 3 fouls Even if Chelsea are much better at tackling than we are that seems unlikely if both sides are being held to the same standards. It also seems remarkable that a team who were mostly on the back foot due to being a man down for 45 mins wouldn't concede another foul in the game in 45 mins.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

And achieving that in a financially sustainable way, competing against bankrolled oil clubs somehow makes the owners a disgrace? I honestly don't understand how some people think.
Stop living in the past. The future is what's important now and its not looking as rosy as you think.

Yep, probably why our top players have renewed their contract, because they’ll be on a retirement plan.
        Are we winning?

          Who knows eh

Out form is excellent over the last (at least) 10 games. We’ve not been at our best, but we’ve been getting great results (smashing Man U at OT).

Let’s keep our powder dry after three games. Forum wise, the amount of people losing their **** over a 1-1 at home vs Chelsea doesn’t bode well for any inevitable defeat to a low ranking team through the season. We have been absolutely spoiled for a few years.

We were given (as supporters) one of the most stress free title wins in history. Pretty much done by Jan. We will never see that again. 1 draw out of 28 games or whatever the **** it was the rest all wins.

Let’s see how we supporters handle a battle.

          Early signs. Not encouraging.
Thats a good point, and maybe adds a little perspective to concerns, but I think some posters are being a little too blase about our aging squad and the longterm individual form of some of our best players, coinciding with the final 2 seasons of the force of nature that is Klopp.

One thing I definitely disgaree with is the "supporters" comments on a forum. Someone made the comment to me before, something along the lines of "why don't your try supporting the club instead of..." To me this is a little forum, we're not supporting the side here, we're discussing the club. Thats two entirely different things. I've been up to Anfield a couple of times over the last few weeks, and that is where you show support, not here, this has no impact on the team. Being overly positive or negative here has zero impact on our performances, so its a free for all where things can be discussed.

            Thats all fair mate

We do all support in different ways. Or maybe it is more, we all view things in different ways, some take solace in fearing and preparing for the worst others in concentrating on what is going well.

For me, ultimately I have to believe that there are some grown ups in charge at the club, and that may not have been the case in the past. Fundamentally I cannot believe that FSG are willing to crash the asset they have worked so hard to build up. With that in mind I tend to focus on the positives. I suspect Klopp will stay for a year or 2 beyond the contract, I suspect our inactivity within the transfer market is down to covid. The only clubs that are particularly active are the 'sugar daddy' or leveraged ones. Our approach has always been sustainable.

As with all online discussion the answer lurks within the shades of grey.

I am not averse to panicking when the time is right either, and that time was close when we lost all of those games on the bounce. But, even then it felt like there were lots of mitigating circumstances.

Outside of all of this it does feel like this is a season for some players to either make a name for themselves or get moved on (Ox, Keita) and for some of the younger guys to prove they are worth their places in the squad.

It was 100% disappointing to not beat a 10 man Chelsea for sure. I missed the first half, but when I sat down we absolutely destroyed them for about 15 mins, and then they found a way to see us off. It was a good rear guard performance from tham. They are a class act. It was not catastrophic.

Man City lost at Spurs, Man Utd drew away at Southampton and were lucky to beat Wolves, I am pretty sure most of their fans will not be stressing yet.

the facts are that we will lose some games this season. Probably some we should be winning. We need to keep that number to around 4-5 and aim for I reckon 85 points to win the League.

it is going to be a rollercoaster, we had best all strap ourselves in

The **** you want us to do about it?

Whinging or being concerned isn't going to do anything to change the team, perhaps it's therapy to you but I try to find other things besides millionaires playing sportsball to maintain my mental health.

I am dying to see what happens in here if/when we lose a game to a team like Watford, Brentford or Brighton let alone dropping points to one of the title chasers.

May need to have a good stock of ice cream got in so I can sit back and watch.

                  Who's talking about mental health?

I'm not that bloody concerned about the club ffs!

Why are you concerned about poster's blasé attitude? We don't run the club, our attitude has no bearing on the club's success.

Its the done thing now, trying to shut down debate with strawman arguments or the use of extremes. "Would you rather we were run like Barcelona???". As though there's no inbetween of being well run pushing for success OR risking bankruptcy.

As you said, aging squad, lack of ambition and Klopps contract will be a pretty good storm to test how the club is really being run.
