He has when at Madrid and early days Monaco - it’s been years since he played there. Gomez is solid and we need that plus Fab was excellent at CB beside Matip when we were ****ed a couple of seasons back

Not conceeding during the first 10 minutes will be like a victory.

        Can you imagine?

I think a lot of us would take a 3-0 and no injuries.

Given our form, our injuries and who we are playing, there's just no way you can see us not conceding. I do think we will score too though. We simply have to come out chomping at the bit and go full tilt at these. The only way to beat City is to take the game to them. Win and it could give us the boost we need off the back of smashing Rangers and Mo getting back to his best, lose and it just compounds just how far we are off City. Goals in this one me thinks. Usually I would take a draw but we need to win.

If Konate is out, I'd rather see us line up like against Arsenal with Gomez at RB and Fabinho at CB. Milner or Philips is suicide.

            Alisson
            Gomez - Fab - VVD - Robertson
            Hendo - Thiago
            Salah - Bobby - Nunez - Jota

Subs......Milner, Carvalho, Elliot and Philips, we don't have anyone else. **** this sucks, didn't we get a doctor back from Arsenal? We didn't get so many injuries last season.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Fab playing in the back line means Milner or or one the young lads in midfield then.

So we end up with both a weakened midfield and a weakened backline intead of just one of them weakened.

Would sooner keep Fab in his usual DM role and either play Philips at CB with Gomez right back, or Gomez at DB with the wee Scot at RB.

Think I would even be tempted to risk Tsimi at RB with Gomez at CB before moving Fab out of midfield against City.

Would not in a million years risk going two in the middle against City though.

Would settle for a controversial var defeat.

Fab, Thiago, Hendo a must for midfield.

gomex in the Centre, if Konate is not available & Millie at RB or Tsimi

Small targets like this make the game more bearable.

Not concede in the first 10 minutes. Breathe. Not go into half time more than 2 goals down. Breathe. Nunez looking incrementally better. Breathe. No injuries. Breathe.

I’m not exactly feeling confident, but.

The game starts 0-0, it’s 11 v 11 and anything can happen. Even when we were in the proper doldrums shock results can happen. We beat them well as recently as 2 months ago. We need to find that form.

I sense that something might happen today (and would take the draw).

VVD still never defeated in the League at Anfield - is that going to change today…???

We need an early chance, we need the crowd behind us and we need to take it.

If we concede our usual goal early on it could be a long afternoon.

At least it's not at theirs. I'm going to channel my inner Buzzo and go for a hard fought 2-1 win

                              Late fitness test for Konate?

                              Hope rising again.
