      Humiliating result.

      Hammered 5-2 at fortress Anfield.

      Sick to my stomach.

That’s on them. One of the lowest points of being a Liverpool fan for a long, long time.

      Embarrassing

The midfield thing has been discussed so much now, since Gini left. It’s mad that we haven’t reinforced. We’ve let 2 injury prone players run their contracts down and have relied on two others who are entering their 30’s. Baffling.
Its not baffling at all. There's no money to spend because FSG couldn't manage ****. Everyone pontificating about their amazing ownership needs to remember that Klopp was one of two World Class managers available when Rodgers left, Ancelotti being the other. It wasn't like these pricks plucked some unknown and elevated him to greatness with Moneyball magic. He was available, they spoke to him and he said yes. Quite the masterstroke

Personally I think one of the issues we have is that barring the odd player, world class players aren't going to come to us ahead of the big wage paying clubs and I don't think it makes sense for us to put all our bets on getting them. That means that we have to choose from the 2nd/3rd tier - which is still very good - but means we have to be sharp with the scouting and fast with the execution and take more risks. It is how/where we got the likes of Mane, Salah, Firmino, Robertson etc. So sure, we could do it again, but...

.. anyway, as you allude to I though Bajcetic had a reasonable game. Showing your age at - what 18/19? is not shame v Real Madrid. And he showed some confidence. We're in a bad place, but there are some positives.

For the past 30 years we have NEVER been a better position to rebuild and we have have done it before. The speed of the rebuild depends on the leadership and investment from the owners.

That is very true but if you put all your eggs in a basket called Tchouameni (etc.) then you're asking for trouble. Barring the odd one, we can't maintain a squad by targeting the most coveted players and refusing to buy anyone else instead. Or if we do, we're going to have to rely on a lot of youth as well which is why I think it will take a while. Longer term - despite what some think - I think the club is in rude health and will mostly be a perennial contender rather than bankrupt, which was the only other option as I recall..
Anyway, we all want the same thing.
                Really?

Let's hope all the players are drunk for the second leg.

I agree with the Tchouameni point. But the way how the funds are spent as it relates to our profit margin seem out of wack. Liverpool seems to me like an American hedge fund shop, not a club right now.

Well, it didn't need repeating or even saying once. But what is going through Klopp's mind when we can all see it?

Obviously Gomez takes a large part of the blame tonight but let's get the most fundamental shortfall corrected first. It's the midfield, stupid! (That's a quote, not an insult at Klopp)

I wish it was - we'd definitely be leveraging up and buying the **** out of the market. but yeh I get your point - not sure I agree.

                              Not surprised really.

He's a kid learning a new position and all of a sudden has become our only glimmer of hope in an absolute train-wreck of a midfield.

One of his first involvements was trying to collect a **** pass from our amazing captain, with two Madrid players breathing down his neck and when he lost the ball then cops a mouthful and a few flappy arms from Horrendouson for not being able to control it.

He must have a clause in his contract that no matter how **** he is, he cannot be substituted.

We have options up front again now. Would like to see Salah dropped and see if we can get any sort of coherent play from the others. Because at the moment it mainly just Salah losing the ball when trying to dribble past the LB, or hitting a weak shot my 8 yr old nephew would save. Must be frustrating as a player watching that game in game out knowing the prick is never going to get hooked.
