Or maybe we can just play a completely different formation?

I don’t actually understand what all the fuss is about Trent playing in this hybrid/inverted role as he’s always played a hybrid role - his hybrid role is now just as RB/CDM rather than RB/winger. This means he can still contribute to the attack but there is less chance of him being exposed and caught miles of position and then having to sprint the full length of the pitch every time we lose possession. He can also (and does) get down the wing at times to mix things up.

We are currently top of the league and have the best defensive record out of all the teams - we’d still be unbeaten if it wasn’t for the worst officiating mistake ever. We’ve also scored the second highest amount of goals. Must be a fluke though as everyone knows playing Trent in the hybrid role is blunting our attacks whilst making us ****e in defence

With regard to Dom, I don’t think his recent dip in form is down to being over played as his off the ball work has still been outstanding, its just when he’s on the ball that’s the issue. If it was a fitness/stamina thing, you’d think there would be a drop off in his running (which there hasn’t been).

Imagine what we are going to like when this team fully clicks into gear though

Let's not also forget this run extended back to last season. We had 5th, 6th, 7th best team on paper according to some going into this season. The tactics, as much as anything has helped elevate them into the current best team. It's hard to fully fathom this obsession with changing it at every opportunity. Certain key players have clearly also helped, but when it's not broke...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It is not about whose position TAA is taking because he is playing in his own position which now is more or less a "free" role as in he is free to go with the play and to try and create overloads in doing so.

It is about the ground being covered by the player or players tasked to fill in the spaces created by the set up we are using.

TAA does not come into it other than when he is on the pitch he is in the "free" role, if he was injured in the morning we could play sopmeone else in that same role and there still would be players needed to cover.

I was commenting on how the new set up, regardless of who is in the playmaker role, is adding extra workloads to certain positions and as such we are seeing more injuries and/or drop offs in form in those positions.

LB, RCB and RCM are the three positions who are being tasked to cover and this season we are having a higher attrition rate in terms of injuries across those positions.

Not sure if we need to add some younger more energetic players to some of those roles or if we need to rotate more often in some of them to prevent a burn out or injury but the box set up does appear to be far more labour intensive for the players in the covering roles

I was responding to Charly who had said we should play Trent in midfield and ditch the hybrid/inverted role

But I was agreeing with Jaco... so its all his fault
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I don’t think we’ve had a midfielder score a goal like that since Gini left.

                            Salah is no.11 though.

It’s just a malformed 3-0 for the score line.
