I saw the red card back and for sure we have to talk about it. I understand 100% how it looks for a ref in that moment but when you see it back it is the inside of the foot and no power behind it. It is not ruthless it is just mis-hit the ball and then hit slightly the shin of the other player. We saw harsher challenges which were not a red card and this shouldn't have been. I don't know exactly what we have to do, but we should talk about it again.
Horrible start. Horrible start to the game. I thought the first goal we conceded was offside and a wake up call. OK, you take that. And then a minute later we conceded a regular goal which is not cool. We needed a few minutes to shake it off and then we were really good. We scored two goals which was really good.
Is anyone surprised to know that Mike Dean thinks the ref and VAR got it right and it was a red card
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
What is the point of VAR if it isn't to correct wrong decisions? I get the need for a fall back to the decision on the pitch if VAR is inconclusive. But if you show that challenge and ask people what they give without telling them the ref has given a red, no-one says red. But the rules are so stupid the only way that a red is overturned in that situation is if it isn't a foul at all (i.e.there is no contact) because once it's confirmed as a foul the ref hasn't got it clearly and obviously wrong, it is a foul and it is then the referee's interpretation as to the colour of the card.
You would think common sense would have the VAR official saying 'listen mate I think you got that one wrong, have a look at the monitor and I'd be changing it to a yellow if I were you by the VAR rules are stupid.
I have been saying for ages you should hear the conversation between ref and VAR to explain decision, but this incident shows what that will never happen.

Same bull**** again- they don’t say it was a red, don’t say whether they think the ref was right or not- just say it wasn’t clearly and obviously wrong…
2 games in, and in both we’ve had a major VAR decision (wrongly) go against us…

It is madness.. I can only guess it's a daft attempt to reduce the interventions and keep the games flowing. But that's completely flawed obvs.. esp when the game had already stopped as it did in today's example. I really don't know.
