    Yeah fair points

It’s defo a big season for Darwin, am sure he will get brought in gradually and he must be desperate to make an impact.

Also. How the **** is Trent still only 24…!!!
    Modifying post.

I wonder how Klopp and the club would act if we get another dodgy VAR call this weekend? Considering last weeks call and Mike Deans comments it could be interesting.

Not just for Liverpool. I imagine when the inevitable bad call comes this weekend any manager has a free hit at the VAR.

Gomez has the pace for the system but he's just not a good defender. Matip is a good defender but just doesn't have the pace for the system. He really is a casualty of this new system.

I'm really surprised non of the reporters have steamed in on this.

Is a bit mad in a way that the players we have doubts over at present are not older players heading into their twilight years but rather players that are in or close to what would be regarded as peak years.

Just looking at players in the 14 to 27 age bracket

            TAA at 24
            Gomez at 26
            Jota at 26
            Nunez at 24
            Kelleher at 24
            Philips at 26

All have folk on here questioning if they are good enough or capable of staying injury free long enough or capable of regaining old form.

I would even add Diaz at 26 to that list myself with this being a season during which he needs to show he can play in 30 league games and maintain good form.

Some of those names having shown in the past they could be very good, some are still in that maybe stage and poor old Philips is just hanging around because no club wants to buy him.

It is actually a lot of peak age players to have in a squad to have and not be able to say I am pretty sure that almost all of them will regain past form/get over having regular injuries

So you're 100% certain Klopp is the one stopping us from signing a new defender?

He's had injury problems before getting here. Doubt it's a formation problem.

He had injuries before he joined us and one bad one in particular, what I said is that the formation we play exposes him even more to possibility of injuries. The amount of sprinting he has to do is now increased which means they are even more likely

If we defended deep he wouldn’t need to do that or if he had a “normal” right back then again the strain on him would be less

Konate is a big loss. He is a ‘mentality monster’ also. A real leader.
He's technically 26, but with his injuries and his career starting so early he probably has the legs of a 35yr old

He's mentally fragile too. Dudes so scared of getting injured he goes in half hearted to any physical/aerial duels. Sad to see, because he really was quality.

We'll probably give him a new contract cos he's such a nice guy

What does that say about you then when the only person on EST you get into scraps with is Bad Back Perkins, EST's version of Gomez.

So Gomez to partner VVD tomorrow?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

He is our only back up CB option with the pace required to fill in for Konate.

Is yet another thing that makes no sense about our 3223, the lack of fast mobile CBs in depth.

TBH I would be much happier if we went with a regular back four against Newcastle even if that meant going with Matip and Gomez as our RCB and RB and then having Endo, Mac and Szobo in the middle with TAA on the bench.

Would take the greater chance of solidity at the back over the maybe it will work today maybe it will not work today of our box formation.

I thought Konate was just a doubt rather than definitely ruled out?

I'm hoping it was a subtle reminder that the team is already stretched and it's only 2 games in.

That being said, if he isn't fit, Gomez played in the same fixture last year and we won 2-0. Although, I would expect Matip to be picked ahead of him.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
