Sounds exactly how it was described, a breakdown in understanding and communication due to human error. It’s a really stupid rule that VAR can’t go back after the free kick is taken.

The use of language is killing them. Why say ‘check complete’ that’s not enough ****ing information. Say ‘you may award the goal’ or ‘do not award the goal he was offside’.Originally posted by Mark79 View Post
They also had multiple times to step in and correct but they hesitated.
Urgh. It’s all totally sickening. They sound like a couple of apprentices FFS.Modifying post.

I just don’t buy this. They can bring a game back that has carried on while a VAR review was being carried out and change a decision.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostIf it's against the rules of football to delay the game after the VAR decision has been made and game restarted, then Michael Oliver (the "Oli" referenced) doesn't know the rules of the game.
Utd were awarded a penalty after a final whistle.
It’s a crock of ****..

No clear guidelines are there, complete amateur set up by the looks of it.
Rugby is so clear and concise with the language.
Absolute joke

There shouldn’t be a script or the mandatory use of certain keywords. It’s not the military, it doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. Just let them have a conversation with the ref.
Albeit in a concise and structured manner like in both rugbys.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

The Oli asking for the game to be delayed isn't Michael Oliver, it is the VAR operator, so he won't know the rules 100%. The Sky webpage clarifies this.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostIf it's against the rules of football to delay the game after the VAR decision has been made and game restarted, then Michael Oliver (the "Oli" referenced) doesn't know the rules of the game.

It's more about the game moving on to the phase, no next phase when the whistle goes for HT/FT. Imagine Spurs score from that wrong restart, is the score then 1 to them or to us or 1-1?Originally posted by Mark79 View PostI just don’t buy this. If that offside was the last action in the game they could call it back as a goal

Yeah they can do what they want FFS. What are the worst outcomes? Nobody is going to go to jail.
Sometimes just do the right thing in the actual moment they had opportunity and they chose not to.
We can get man on the moon, build aeroplanes, skyscrapers… but THIS is beyond us? It’s nothing to do with the tech and it’s everything to do with the ****s running it.Modifying post.
