I'd rather our academy players learn from him - he could play for us for another 3 or 4 seasons. Just think how much a player like Dann, Gordon or even Bradley could learn from him, I think Elliott has already learned a lot. If Elliott had Salah's pace he'd be amazing.Originally posted by red g View PostYeh would love to keep him but if we can get 100m+ could give the new man a few quid to spend."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

And with a slightly bigger dick, I could have conquered the world.Originally posted by vlahka View PostGakpo also hasnt hit the crossbar 200 times. With a little more acuracy nunez would have 239 goals a season. Gakpo would still have 11.
Point is that He hasnt scored 239 goals.
Our strikers stand at (minutes per goal- all games)
Salah 110
Jota 112
Nunez 165
Gakpo 168
Diaz 223
We are obviously missing our 3 best strikers, but Nunez is replaceable in terms of goals (with Gakpo).
Numez is also leading the assists chart though on 11, with Salah joint second on 9 (with Trent). Jota 4 Gakpo 4 Diaz 3. (dont have assists per minute)
Bradley has 5 in 11 starts, which I think would put him top in terms of ratio.
So essentially we have our top 3 strikers and top 3 providers all out injured
I think Gakpo is a competent goal scorer, but Diaz needs to step up. He has a great highlight reel, but lacks the end product.
Getting a 4-1 win was a fine result though, with all 3 forwards scoring. I still think it was messy, but we ground it out with arguably only 2 or 3 first choice players starting.
On one hand id like to see Gakpo given a run. On the other we need our best players back asap. Not sure he makes the 1st 11 with Salah and Nunes fit (maybe instead of Diaz?) Its hard to quantify it as the players move around so much in terms of formation. diaz works very hard outside of the box too.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Can we just take a step back and look at those numbers, a while back you would consider a striker top class if they were getting 1 goal every couple of games (180 mins). We have 5 players who have reached double figures this season and 4 of them have a better ratio than that, the 5th is averaging a goal every 2.5 games. I think that is quite remarkable.Originally posted by Charly View PostOur strikers stand at (minutes per goal- all games)

Edit I get that in the era of more subs and larger squads players get more opportunity to maximise their per minute output as when they get tired they can go off but I still think the point is validLast edited by Exiled_red; 23-02-24, 08:07 AM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Added to that, if we were after a player with a goals to games ratio of 1 in 2 at top level then he'd be fawned over without a doubt. If he was providing assists to boot then there'd be a serious ****fest if he went elsewhereOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostCan we just take a step back and look at those numbers, a while back you would consider a striker top class if they were getting 1 goal every couple of games (180 mins).
