Aye, many times that you would look at the bench where there are youngsters, roll your eyes & say christ almighty but now... the opposition will be looking over to see who's not in the squad & say thank god!

Of course he has but Ali is still our No 1 until he doesn’t deserve it.

As good an experience as it’s been for the kids I’ll feel better looking to an experienced bench if we need a goal or whatever.

There’s no way Ali is going to warm the bench & he’ll be off in the summer if we bench him IMO. If Ali continues to get injured there’s a chance we could look to sell him after next season or offer him the No2 role maybe

And one could level the same argument with Kelleher except he's got 6 years on Ali (and he's homegrown!)

The VAR role could be exclusively for those that can't pass the fitness test to be an EPL ref. Then there'd be jealousy and antagonism rather than familiarity.

And probably a lot of cake!

Don't think one could make the same arguement for Kelleher. He is doing very well and looking the part for us.

However Alisson is the best keeper in the game and even if people wanted to debate that the very worst he is is being in the top two or three.

Kelleher on the other hand is not a best in the world level keeper, he is not a top 10 in the world level keeper.


Alisson is fit he starts every single time over Kelleher.

Alisson for some reason has to go and the level of guy needed to replace him full time (if we wanted to continue having a guy seen as best/one of the best on the world) is still probably going to be better than Kelleher.

None of that is a knock on Kelleher in any way, just that imo Alisson is a top of the mountain level guy and 99% of the top leagues level goalkeepers in the game are below him

every league game anyway. Happy to give kelleher both cups for now, to keep him fresh/happy. Or maybe he’ll give kelleher the Europa, and use Ali for the league and FA cup….
