This has been one of the big issues this season along with conceding the first goal.

    First 45 table
    1 Arsenal 34 15 15 4 36 11 +25 60
    2 Manchester City 33 17 9 7 33 15 +18 60
    3 Aston Villa 34 15 11 8 33 17 +16 56
    4 West Ham Utd 35 13 11 11 24 28 -4 50
    5 Newcastle Utd 34 11 16 7 30 21 +9 49
    6 Liverpool 35 11 16 8 26 20 +6 49

    Second 45 table
    1 Liverpool 35 25 5 5 51 16 +35 80
    2 Arsenal 34 22 6 6 46 15 +31 72
    3 Manchester City 33 19 7 7 47 17 +30 64
    4 Tottenham 32 19 5 8 41 26 +15 62
    5 Aston Villa 34 14 12 8 38 33 +5 54
    6 Newcastle Utd 34 16 5 13 44 34 +10 53

I know it’s easy to say what if we’d done more in the first 45 we wouldn’t need to score late goals and go so hard late on and it takes time to break teams down to win games but it’s such a stark contrast.

Yeah, it must be a setup issue or something, the team has too much too do after giving up the lead. Exhausting to watch, let alone to manage.

We should be fine imo, only because teams below us are also inconsistent

            Not even remotely.

We have three games left and we only need a point realistically.

Spurs have four games after this Arsenal one (which they're losing 3-0 right now) and that includes a game against City.

But let's say we lost all remaining games 3-0, and they won all four remaining games 3-0, they'd be level on points but still behind on goal difference!

Aston Villa have three games left including one against us. If they win all their games including against us, then they'll only be a point ahead of us in 3rd.

If we get a point, we'll secure 3rd thanks to our superior goal difference.

27 goal deficit??? The way we are defending I wouldn't get too cocky!

Thank god for that. Not too bad a season all in all.

Its all relative. But it shows how big the gap is if not everyone is pulling their weight. We desperately need new strikers imho. I doubt we will get rid of Nunez and Salah to fund it, but if Jota could have stayed fit for the whole season, it may have just been the extra goal here and there that we needed.

We have the higherst XG in Europe, after Bayern Munich

                            87.1 Bayern
                            78.3 Liverpool
                            69.9 Inter
                            68.4 Man City
                            67.4 Arsenal

Ignoring our leaky defence, we have created enough to be able to win the PL. It is the defence tha has let us down compared to Arsenal and City, as our goals scored are very similar. You cpould argue we have gone full Keegan and the chances created are at the expense of defensive solidity, but I still think its just due to sloppy play (up until recently)

I don't think the cumulative total is that useful. I'd be interested to see how the average xG per chance compares to other sides, because while we do miss some sitters I feel we create so many half chances and would probably expected the average xG per chance to be lower than most top sides
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
