Not sure I agree. Our next league games are on 21st and 31st January. We can afford to go strong in the League Cup.

If we have to sack off a cup, I wouldn’t pick the one we’re potentially 2 wins from winning.

Also if we could win a trophy, that would given a big boost to this Liverpool 2.0 side

So with Salah and Endo away for a few weeks how do we line up until they return?

Presumably MacAllister will come in for Endo, it looks like Szoboszlai will miss at least a game or two as well so Elliott for him? I would go with a front three of Diaz, Jota (central) and Nunez

That seems the obvious first choice trio. I’m not sure how much Diaz likes playing on the right though.

We've recalled Beck and Carvalho... I wonder will we be tempted to recall Morton as well. Although he got a straight red card yesterday so might be having a 3 game ban anyway.

Been utter muck for Leipzig. I saw him play Think he has been recalled as they were not going to play him and it suits them to send him back and we need to either loan him out elsewhere to get minutes or give him minutes ourselves to get his value up.


Think he has had one start in the Bundesliga and the rest was just coming on for a few minutes here and there.

(my dogs are going great guns... big ****ers now... muscles made of steel. It is a serious upper body workout to just take them for a walk. Tried to stop them eating children, but it is their hobby)

Beck will be an emergency LB option, maybe gets some sub mins in the cup ties to give Gomez a bit of a break if match situation allows. I don’t see Carvalho getting games, maybe if he does well in training we will give some mins from the bench and loan him out again at the end of the window. That way he provides an extra body for part of the time Salah is away. I think we'd be silly to bring Morton back when he's playing regularly.

We have quite a few first teamers missing, which is why I think it makes sense to keep Carvalho, but a more straightforward concept would be him taking Doak's place on the bench. Like Elliot, I think he would be better suited to our new setup playing as one of the 8's, plus he nicked us a few goals playing LW, so could provide some cover there too.
