After that performance it's quite clear that the refs were not needed to feck up our season. Our 'strikers' are capable on their own. Nothing is enjoyable about what we've witnessed in the last 3 Utd games.

Absolutely deflated today. I hope I’m wrong but that could be it.

If that is the case, City are also out of it given they have a point less than us and a worse GD than us.

Fecks sake fella, we are level with points with the league leaders and only behind on GD.

Is still a genuine 3 team race and will be for at least another four games but probably longer.

Let's get a few more rounds of games under our belts before thinking of raising the white flag.

Right now the max points we can finish on is 92.

The max Arsenal can finish on is 92.

The max City can finish on is 91.

There is almost nothing in it. Whatever any of the other two can do in terms of stringing a run of results together, we are just as capable of doing.

The sort of slip up we had yesterday, they are equally capable of having.

One can be really confident that we are going to win the title (as I am), or one could be certain one of the other two will win it, but the great thing is nobody knows yet.

We might "think" we know but it is all existing in the world of Schrodinger's kick ball at present.

People have to decide for themselves if now, when we are very much still well in it, is a time to go feck it it's done or if it is time to say we can still do it, but following a footy team for me is about the dreams, the excitement and the what ifs and maybes.

Real life has too many moments in it to drag us down to earth with a sickening thud. People should try (imo of course) to not let footy become a reality bites type thing as well.

And if you want something to plant a seed of hope....just remember who is managing Liverpool FC and then tell me that you think the managers of the other two teams have more grit, more motivational powers and the ability to draw more loyalty and effort from their charges than him.

My money is on Klopp finding a way.

What are people's thoughts on Danns? I think he's been on the bench every game since he scored in the FA Cup but I don't think he has come on. In games where we have often needed goals I wondered what the reluctance has been. Yes he's raw but he's also still something of an unknown to most of the opposition so a bit of a wild card, been wondering it for a few games now.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Would have gambled on putting Darwin wide left and Danns through the centre for the final 15 to 20 mins yesterday.

But easy for me to say that in hindsight.

You can only ride your luck for so long. With all of these late goals, I think it’s clear that we have been doing that, making things look a lot more difficult for us that for Arsenal and city. We’ve massively improved with the additions in the summer, but they haven’t taken us from 5th best to 1st unfortunately. Endo got up to speed relatively quickly, but we still suffered during his bedding in period. Dom has been extremely inconsistent, starting brilliantly and fading massively as the season has gone on. Mac Allister wasn’t new to the league and it shows. And there’s Darwin, our big money Sadio replacement who still hasn’t really clicked as a goal scorer in his second season. It was always going to be a huge ask for it all to come together in time.

We need Bayern to give Arsenal a real game & Madrid away is just about the toughest fixture in world football, so City have their work cut out for them. A few injuries to key players would be nice. We can rotate a bit vs Atalanta but Arsenal and City can't compromise & have to go full tilt with their best in both legs. Arsenal have a really nasty run of fixtures coming up too but imo I think City will win every one of the league games. It's all to play for but we aren't play well and have been riding our luck of late. Such a disappointing result and performance, we just seem to have a habit of making things so difficult for ourselves.

I know mathematically it’s still on but I always thought this match was the acid test & we missed the opportunity to put down our marker. Just my opinion & I hope to hell I’m wrong.

There is also the nice bonus of City and Arsenal being able to meet in the CL should both come through their ties. So means potentially each could have four tough games in a row during which they could not afford to rest or roatate many players.

The riding our luck thing you mention does not really matter though as long as you are still grinding out results , getting points and avoiding losses.

City have looked quite poor at times the past few months and often looked like they were riding their luck, but they are still getting racking up points.

Once upon a time if a time was playing so so but still racking up points peope would say that is what potential champions do.

City have been doing it, we have been doing it. If it is what good teams do then it applies to both, if it is a case of it meaning it is just luck, then the same applies to both teams.

Only team at the moment not doing that riding their luck thing seems to be Arsenal but much as we like to talk about our tough run of games to come, Arsenal have games against Bayern (twice), Spurs, Mancs, Chelsea and Villa.

So if our games against Villa, Spurs, Everton and Wolves are being called potentially tricky (Arsenal also have Everton and Wolves) then surely the same applies to some of those teams being a possible banana skin for Arsenal.

Think when it comes to deciding which of us and Arsenal finish higher, we are talking very fine margins and very similar tests in both our futures.

Don't actually think it will take a tally over 90 points to win it this season, my gut feeling is that the team that hits 90 will win it with the other two getting stuck around 88 or 89 points.

Crazy season though. Never seen one like it with three teams so tightly locked this deep into the season with the potential being there for all three to finish above 90 points.

Just shows how well all three teams have played this season and how damn consistent all three have been so far.

So if us versus the Mancs away was an acid test, are you also saying the fact Arsenal have to play the same Mancs at Old Trafford and also have to play Spurs away are both acid tests for them?

Mentioned it in a reply to Dan, thee teams that are being listed as tough tests for us during our run in, Arsenal have to play most of them as well.

If Arsenal finish above us, be it on GD or via a points difference, they are going to have to earn it. Same things applies to us finsihing ahead of them.

But we are almost as close to being neck and neck with them as is possible.

Be a bit different if we were three or four points behind Arsenal with less games to go but we are currently in a much better position.

Said it yesterday, but next weekend Villa could get a draw against Arsenal and we might beat Palace, then it will be all talk of it being in our own hands again.

Hell we might draw against Palace and Villa might beat Arsenal and then City sneak in with a win.

                        Fine lines, brother, fine lines.

yeah cracking season in fairness. Interesting to see does it affect Arsenal mentally competing on multiple levels for the very highest prizes, we know City can do it but it's no mean feat & they are relatively new to it.

Every game is going to be an uncomfortable watch but on the same token, it's incredible to be in it even if we don't get the desired outcome. I certainly never expected us to be challenging for the title this season. I think where the frustration an anxiety for hat matter really lies is, we know Klopp is going so us winning the title, for us anyways, it just seems like the perfect fairytale ending to his LFC career. It's so close & the closer it gets, the harder it gets.

At least it is pressure on Arsenal now, not us. They have not been good under the pressure in the past.

I still think there are dropped points to come. At least we have our toughest match on paper out of the way.
