He has to be close to getting pulled from our games.

Genuinely expecting him to join in with the Hillsborough chants or 'feed the scousers' one of these games.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The fouls for pens prevented two certain goals, we had two actual pens, Trent missed from 5 yards, Nunez missed a bad one on one, we had a well crafted goal ruled out for a marginal offside, Mo should have had a good hattrick at the end and we scored 3 goals with open nets from about an average distance of 6 yards and a pen.

In what world are they not big chances and what are the standards if we are saying 'apart from the FOUR goals...' ?

        Thoughts on this?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't see why we should be grateful that we got 2 clear pens. He lost control of the match for periods of time and the Diaz booking was particularly harsh, unless something else happened off camera.

Read earlier that the Joelinton let off was technically correct as he played advantage, but that makes zero sense to me. Those are the cynical fouls that they say they want to irradicate by introducing sinbins, so how is it logical that goes completely unpunished?

Gakpo also had shot from about 8 yards that the keeper got down really well to save and Trent almost scored what would have been an insane goal.

Mike Dean said that on the TV, though later backtracked. And it is clearly not right - we have the evidence of our own eyes and there is nothing in the rules that says a bookable offence is not a bookable offence if advantage is played. There is no point having a ref on the TV if he doen't know the rules!

Incompetence yet again from the officials
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Aye, Gakpo's one and Nunez with his knee probably the two best saves, if that's the metric we're using to measure how good our chances were.

What's the point in having refs or former refs on the TV, they don’t really do anything other than back their mates, the only insight they provide is proof of how bad the trained officials are

Do they adjust the expected goals number they allocate to a chance depending on who is on the end of it, or is a chance for Gomez or Nunez (odds can't be that far apart) be the same as a chance for Salah?

When we don’t need to win the game.

Yeah it's the same xg value no matter who it falls to

This is interesting and it reminds me of a discussion I had with a mate once, about the issuing of a red card for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. We concluded, rightly so, that if the striker being fouled was someone like Jason Lee (for example), it can only be a yellow card. Based on the wording of the law.

I think one would have a valid case in cases like this, for strikers like that.

Read this earlier and found it pretty staggering:

FiveThirtyEight no longer compiles xG data. However, if we use Opta’s expected goal stats for the match, only three of the 36,193 games in the aforementioned database were more one-sided:

Liverpool 4-2 Newcastle: 6.68 xG difference

                                Barcelona 4-0 Deportivo La Coruna, 2017: 6.73

                                Manchester City 8-0 Watford, 2019: 6.79

                                VVV Venlo 0-13(!) Ajax, 2020: 8.04

Not only is it staggering when you consider the gulf in class between some teams, when on paper, us and Newcastle should be closely matched. But also because some people, including our own fans are making out we were lucky to get the win.
