The only other possibility is that Alonso has said ‘no’ just now to get to the end of the season pressure free with Leverkusen and then goes for it.

Tactically and PR wise that would be the best way to get through to the end of season.

And then a ‘Liverpool have come back with an offer I cannot refuse’ type of statement.

    Or, it’s someone else.

considering he's going for the league, it should absolutely be his primary focus and forget the other noise. He may revisit things at the end of the season which imo is the most respectful and professional thing to do.

Amorim has only denied that there is any agreement at this stage, he hasn’t said there’s no chance that he leaves at all. Just that he’s focused on Sporting and the remainder of their season.

Alonso on the other hand didn’t just say ‘no’ to LFC, he told the Leverkusen fans that he’s staying next season. It would be awful PR to go back on that.

Amorim is the one speaking like someone who wants no distractions for his current team and will make his future known afterwards. Alonso has already committed and announced his immediate future.

I can tell you now there is 0% (Zero) chance Xabi Alonso will be the manager of LFC next season. It’s not happening.

It’s going to be Amorim and he’s going to be great.

I don’t think anyone can say anything has a zero percent chance. It seems unlikely for sure. I don’t think it will happen.

But, if you were looking to manage a strategy whereby he did still become Liverpool manager whilst being able to focus on Leverkusen then that would be the strategy

I fancy the new manager to win more trophies than klopp. Bit like paisley following shankly. Foundation's are in place now we need a manager with more luck in finals.

No, the strategy would be to do what Amorim is doing.

We had a lot of catching up to do when Klopp first came in. Like you said with the foundations in place and the experience of Edwards second time around we are in a great position. Add in the progress of the academy and the money that saves on players. Gives the now boss a chance to spend what’s available on one or two top players.

                      Possibly, not definitively.

I wonder if the new manager will meet Klopp and have some kind of hand over?

I do think Klopp has been great, but I also suspect he has created a lot of his own problems. I don't think his judgement of signings is that great and it's pretty clear he has demanded more input into that. He's also far too emotional when it comes to keeping players. Hey never mind, he's a great tactician and motivator and it's been a lot of fun. We also got that PL hoodoo off our backs.
                          Really?

I wonder if we could entice Postecoglu?

                            I’ve been impressed by him.

The park bench sleeper? No thanks

It was interesting hearing that Gasperini's Atalanta has beaten Amorim in their last 4 meetings.
