That video analysis was great. Xabi excites me. But you just know he will up and leave for Real within 3 seasons as soon as they're ready for a new manager. Same as when he was a player. And yes I know about his feeling more like home quotes.
    One tit for another.

It's possible but I don't think he would tbh. If he's successful here and getting the support needed then I think we'd get him for a good spell like Klopp.

He went to Madrid as a player because things had gone a bit sour here from what I remember.

Yeah Rafa wasn't happy that he stayed with his wife for the birth of their child instead of playing in a champions league game. Xabi said his relationship with Rafa was never the same after that - Rafa tried to replace him with Gareth Barry but the deal didn't happen, Xabi then left the following season

Was that part of the plan to build a team around Robbie Keane?

Least said about that the better
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Robbie Keane and Gareth Barry were definitely Rafa's Benteke moment(s). The beginning of his end.

I hope you're right and Xabi will stay for 5+ years. He's a no brainer for us in the summer.

If he left us after 3 years to go to Madrid then he’s not exactly a shoe in for staying there for another 10, so he’d become just another journeyman manager most likely in that scenario. Much better for him to stick around here for 6+ years and build his own dynasty before moving on imo.
                  Hello mert.

Don't know much about that tbh - I do know he was moaning about how much tax he was paying so not sure if it had anything to do with him leaving...

What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

                    F*** off!!!

Yaaa true, a managerial career is typically a lot longer than a playing career, so he might not be under the same urgency to get his move. Might say naaa I’ll achieve all I want to at LFC for 7/8 years and still have plenty time for a Madrid stint.

But by that logic, he’d prob stay at leverkusen this summer, haha
                      I don't tip

It really was, and something that you couldn’t imagine klopp doing.

When i lived in Vigo, i went to Vigo v Real Sociedad. Got talking to a guy before that game that was a big Sociedad fan. He reckoned that the whole Xabi v Rafa falling out was in relation to Paco Ayestaran being tapped up to go to the sporting director role at Sociedad. The guy was convinced that Xabi had known about this, and maybe even gave Paco a reference for the job. When Benitez found out about that, he saw his arse. Sacked Paco - or put him on gardening leave - and his relationship with Alonso was never the same

And what of Gareth Barry's role in all this then?

The Kaiser Sose no doubt, the puppet master pulling all the strings. The greatest trick Gareth Barry ever pulled was convincing the world he was just a ****e footballer.

Also summat about the GBP rose against the Euro so his take home pay had lessened in the exchange rate & he was pissed off with that. His agent tried to negotiate a new pay rate & Rafa told him to suck it up or summat to that effect.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

I thought that if the pound was stronger than the euro then he'd be better off? On the assumption that he'd be converting his earnings to Euros of course
