No I don’t think we’ll go for Pipo, Amorim seems to be pretty close to a 3 year deal if the Portuguese media is to be believed.

❗️There's still NO agreement between Rúben Amorim and @LFC. Negotiations are progressing well, but there are still details to be clarified. The Portuguese has NOT yet said "yes" to the terms and conditions presented by the English club. @SportingCP didn't received any offer yet.

Their main striker is pretty bloody good too - clinical, not mercurial.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostHave to admit, I’m a little bit excited…

This season, Rúben Amorim's Sporting CP...
◉ score more goals per game (2.93) than any team from Europe's big five divisions
◉ concede fewer shots per game (8.07) than any team from Europe's big five divisions"We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

I think Ruben sought him, or someone like him, out. In order for his system to work properly he needed a proper finisher up top who could also hold the ball. Gykoeres seemed to fit the bill. I'm looking forward to having a clinical finisher like that next season. Jota would normally be it but he's made of wet Sturridge. So we'll need to find one. No, Nunez is not it.Originally posted by DerKrampus View PostTheir main striker is pretty bloody good too - clinical, not mercurial. One tit for another.

Difficult to know if Gykoeres is that player at a higher level or if this season is an outlier.Originally posted by BigChief View PostI think Ruben sought him, or someone like him, out. He got goals in the Championship when he played in England but was nowhere near as profilic or clinical there.
He is more or less having the same sort of season this season in Portugal that Nunez had in his final season there. Nunez was almost a goal a league game during his last season.
Nunez is also a bit younger than Gykoeres.
If we are looking to replace Nunez with a guy that looks ronust, is hard working but at the same time looks a proper finisher then someone like Martinez at Inter looks to have the skillset and physicality to do that and would be more proven at CL and International level so has a greater body of work to be judged on that Gykoeres despite only being a year older.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I've not heard that before.Modifying post.
