He's not the only one who's posted About Slot. Bascombe and Joyce have as well and the BBC too.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

I think the set up around the manager is at least as important as any difference in genius between top end managers tbh. Is Zidane a world class manger? Who knows? He won a couple of la ligas and champions leagues, but what was his actual job? Essentially a figurehead for a huge, well established and successful institution. Put whoever you like in charge of United since SAF left and they’re not winning the league. Chelsea are currently a shambles and they’ve burnt two well rated managers in two years. If we get the fundamentals right off the pitch then the need for a superstar leader like Klopp, who dragged us out of a hole, is probably less of a priority.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostBasically a bootroom 2.0, with the knowledge spread out to give it resiliance. As long as he doesn't take loads of mediocre Dutch players into the team then its an good appointment (in the circumstances).Originally posted by kingfunk View PostIt’s Slot, guaranteed.
FWIW, i don't think he'll be coming in with a list of wanted players (Amorim on the other hand would have, accordingly). System as said, will be a benefit also.

Hopefully the structure will be in place to prevent us signing the Slot equivalent of Anthony.Originally posted by labourRed View PostAs long as he doesn't take loads of mediocre Dutch players into the team then its an good appointment (in the circumstances).

I think personality is massively important also. We have typically had decent success with this.
Rafa and Klopp instantly figured out how to act as mangers of Liverpool. Rogers had moments but seemed an odd fit and then Hodgson.... We all knew he would be a disaster and he was. I seem to remember the likes of Carra and Gerrartd being massive supporters of that appointment - it goes to show what they know.
They are the figurehead of the organisation. If its Edwards lead then no doubt he is all over that side of things also.
Personally, I'd be interested in De Zerbi. He has his squad decimated every year, but plays good football, and look at how he developed Mac Allister. He seems to fit well and he understands the pressures of the League.Last edited by Buzzo; 24-04-24, 10:12 AM.Modifying post.

Will believe it when I see it.
For the past few months we have had chancers like Melissa Reddy first saying Xabi was nailed on, then only a week or so ago her "sources" said Amorim was nailed on, now she is putting up messages saying Slot is nailed on and her "sources" were telling her that for a while.
Way I see it now is we have five more games in which to enjoy Klopp, and who ever the new guy is, we will get real confirmation after the final game of the season or a little later than that if we get a fairytale league title win and have a parade..I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

There is alot of Liverpool have held talks with X it's going to be him, the club will no doubt have spoken to multiple people, the same people (not just Ornstein) were saying the same about Alonso and Amorim no doubt they will get it right eventually. These are the same folk who knew nothing of Klopp's departure before it was officially announced but within days were claiming to know who his replacement was going to be and who we had already held talks with
Maybe I am wrong but the way things have gone with us in the past the fact that so many journalists are reporting it before it's a done deal suggests that the club are trying to use it as a distraction while trying to do something out of sight. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
