I hope we replace Slot, he’s just not cut out for the PL

    the same vulnerabilities keep appearing
    the same substitutions happen
the same transition weaknesses keep getting exposed
the same (predictable) possession patterns are maintained
the same lack of intensity and lack of ideas persist

Many of these issues have been apparent since the back end of last season and the fact that we are still seeing them shows that Slot is just not adaptive or resourceful enough to excel in the PL.

I get the Hoeness appeal, but it's Xabi for me. His work at Leverkusen was astounding. He knows Wirtz and had him playing well, he also got more out that circus at Real Madrid than he gets credit for.

He's by far my top choice, played under various elite managers, was elite player and top professional, comes across well and has the club connection.

Don't understand people doubts at all tbh.

People generally say he failed at Madrid when in actual fact he was doing fine and top of the table until a few players kicked up and basically made him leave because he was too demanding of them

And he didn't just adopt a ready made team and win. He applied his vision to transform the side.

Little prick was asking for it. Tchoo Tchoo asked him to stop and Valverde started on him again the next day so train set slapped him.

Valverde is one of the golden boys at Real so expect Tchoo Tchoo to be sold on the cheap this summer.

We should buy the prick. Just what we need - a bit of bite in the midfield. Maybe he could come in and slap a few of our players.

See that he has been linked with man united as well. Would be great to get him at lfc imo

We definitely need an enforcer type in the middle. Plus it looks like a few of our players could do with a kick up the arse!

You are preaching to the choir there with Doc - he has been promoting train set (top nickname btw!) as the solution for a couple of years now!

If we were to use him as a 6, then he would be a very interesting get imo. Yes he can play as an 8 or a box to box type, but it is as a DM where he is most effective imo as he is very good in the air, good in the tackle, great at reading the game so he can intercept rather than tackle and then there is his top tier quick short passing game.

He rarely misplaces a pass over the course of a season, and he has been like that for season after season now with an over 90% pass completion level each time.

He is one of those players that does not really stand out for making lots of runs or eye catching moments of skill, but when he goes out of the team you suddenly notice other teams getting more joy attacking through the middle and in the air.

The Real support have pretty much turned on him since last season, especially after the summer when he was one of the players that backed Alonso publically, so with the kerfuffle with Valverde I reckon him being moved on asap is pretty much nailed on.

Throw in that he is well above average when used as a CB and you get a guy who is a much more physical version of Gravenberch with a much better ground and aerial game.

He won't get many goals or assists over the course of a season, but he will go about being a wall in front of the back four in a very non eye catching/flashy but very effective manner.

Turned 26 this year so will be in his prime for a few years. Got a good engine on him as well.

Though would love to see us in for Camavinga too if there was any chance of getting him. His ability to cover at LB, DM and CM as well as being able to play at LM would make him a very good utility option. Think he is a guy that gets underrated a lot for the same reasons Tchouameni gets underrated. Neither are all that eye catching in their best roles and tend to be the quality piano carriers that free up the play makers to do their things further up the pitch.

One thing is certain though, and that is that there is a good number of good midfielders that look like they will be available from a number of leagues this summer. Really good chance to pick up one or two quality addition to our centre and all are at the sort of age where they could be mainstays for us for three to five seasons.

Does Slot want a proper DM?

Grav was great there last season but he changed tactics and played withiut one whilr Grav has been fit the whole season
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

This is perhaps the most perplexing thing about this season

He took Klopp's team, made a few tweaks with the most noticeable being using Grav as mostly a defensive midfielder, and won the league

Then for some inexplicable reason, changed the way Grav plays. I get all of the issues that have hampered us this season - Jota, Diaz and Trent leaving, injuries - but the one standout change he made in Grav, wasn't continued. Odd

Was the first season a fluke? Seems unlikely. Was it that he didn't have time to impliment the changes he wanted to? More likely, because we might well be seeing the vision he had for us THIS season. And if so, he's not the right manager for us

I want him gone, but I've softened a wee bit purely because I don't think there's a standout replacement available

Heart says Xabi, head not so sure
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
