The criticism of Darwin was probably amplified because of few of his misses could have won the game for us. The 9 will get stuck for missing I. The same way a keeper does when he commits a howler and the team drop points. It doesn’t matter the whole team were under par or they pulled off a few worldies, when you don’t win the majority pick on the easier target and that has been Darwin in some games.

I remember waiting for Crouchie to score including the missed pen. The fans have patience and we will all be happy when he comes good.

How many games has he single handedly won for us to though?

People perspective on this discussion is so one sided it's just plain dumb. The ignorance is incredible.

it doesn’t matter if in the last 5 you’ve under performed, missed a few sitters & the team have dropped points. The spotlight will be on the centre forward most.

Just looking at his stats on TransferMarkt, the vast majority of his league goals have been against the lower positioned teams in the league. Out of his 33 goals, he has only scored 3 against top 6 opposition in 94 appearances.

For Benfica, he had 48 goals in 85 appearances. There is a player in there, but he is underperforming his potential.

If he performed to his full potential then you have the best striker on the planet on your hands. If he scored all these chance he gets (that his excellent movement creates I should add, not all other players have the instincts and pace to even get the chances he gets) then he'd be scoring 40+ and assisting another 20. Peak Suarez type stuff really.

Fact of the matter is he's had a pretty decent season if you look at the basic statistical output. 30g+a's is not to be sneezed at. What did Torres or Owen get in their best seasons? Or even Mane and Firmino? What's everyones flavour of the month Alex Isak done?

If you want to point fingers at people who have underperformed, then point them at Diaz and Gakpo. Their output has been ****e in comparison.

Hopefully he leaves. I’m excited to see who you fall in love with next.

I do agree with Diaz, he is all effort, flicks and tricks but with little output. He doesn’t create or take chances. He is not an effective forward and, again those two chances he missed 1 v 1 with Ederson were massively costly.

The measure of a good striker is one who scores the important goals.
Scoring one or two in a 10-0 win against a team of bin men doesn't really could take for much, but getting good the vital winner in a 2-1 win against class opposition is what really counts. Can a striker do it against a much better defence...

I hope he stays and you spontaneously combust in a ball of flames when he misses another sitter.

Not enough output from him is there, works his socks off but he doesn't offer enough .

Might also be that we've been spoiled with the Mane, Mo & Bobby front 3 that at times was like a cheat code.

Didn't he score the opening goal against Real Madrid?

Pretty sure he scored 2 nice goals against Newcastle that won us the match, where the pressure must have been immense.

He'll come good, given the chance. Think he will do his best work in Diaz's position tho, we need a more durable version of Jota in the middle...well, depending on how the new manager sets us up.

Definitely the case...there was something other worldly about them and those performances.
