Just saw Slots presser & I like the way he speaks. Doesn’t give too much away but there’s reasons to be confident with him at the helm I think.

Interesting listening to Curtis Jones’s press conferences. Possibly giving more info away than he’d been briefed to. Suggesting that slot wants us to be more patient and keep possession more than Klopp, break teams down and starve them of the ball, hinting that he thought we were too impatient under Jurgen. Saying the new style fits him perfectly and he’s the happiest he’s been.

Yeah just watched it & can see exactly what you mean. All the talk has been well be playing the same as before but Curtis seems to blow that theory out the door. Less direct & more possession based.

It will be interesting to see which players go to another level in that system. You’d imagine Jones, Alexis and Elliot will thrive in a more patient possession game while someone like Szoboszlai, although he may have more than we saw last season, looks a more direct player who wants go forward at every chance.

And if it allows us a more balanced approach and a better defensive set up it would only help Endo and the defenders and put less pressure on them physically.

I know it's heresy to say, but I was totally fed up of the predictability of it all. We needed a plan B but never actually practiced any plan B. The oppos knew it as well.

Doesn't mean I'm excited about slot, not by a long, er, shot. I'm still morning the loss of Klopp.

So keeping the ball means much more side and back passes if we dont see a way forward. Isnt that what we did with Jurgen though? Our issue was after we lost the ball we were always too high and thats how we got half our stupid goals against us.

Not sure how Nunez fits into that. He relies on space and pace. Not the best when static in closed positions where he can outoace and muscle a defender

I think sometimes too much possesion can be counter productive. Early Klopp we scored from pressure high up quite often.

I can see Jota thriving in such a system, and maybe Gakpo and Elliott with their quick one-twos to make space

Not sure how they line up on the pitch , possibly Elliot wide left or it actually looks more like a 442 based on their best positions
