Ipswich Town away Saturday 17th Aug

1230 KO to start the season against newly promoted Ipswich.

I think the side we saw start vs Sevilla is pretty much nailed on to start this. Only other players that might force their way in is Elliot or Jones IMO.

    Ali
    Trent Quansah VVD Timmy
    Gravenberch Macca
    Szoboszlai
    Mo Jota Diaz

    Bench

    Kelleher
    Gomez
    Bradley
    Konate
    Elliot
    Jones
Nyoni ( have I forgot someone else? )
    Gakpo
    Nunez
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

No chance he makes the starting X1 but possibly the bench. Personally I’d bring Gomez on if needed & let Robbo be eased back when he’s built up fitness.

If you're talking about fitness then the other FB needs replacing too. Bradley has to start. And Elliott ahead of Szob for me.
        One tit for another.

Of course there’s that possibility too but I’d be surprised if Trent doesn’t start. Elliot or Szobo I’m fine with either or.

Be surprised if Elliott didn't start, given how he's gone in preseason and the fact that he's further along fitness wise than most of the squad

Szobo has been back for a bit though. I’d have him in over Elliot as the press looks better with him in the 10

I think Trent may be on a short leash this season.

Hmm, that might be a factor in talks about renewing his contract with us.

Trent was more influential in one game than Bradley has been all pre-season. I’d be surprised if Bradley starts.

                      Will be an interesting game.

Seems that one of the tactics Ipswich have used all last season is to use their wingers to press the other teams full backs all game long when off the ball and when on the ball they like to use a double pivot in the centre.

Big part of their game is to force the other team central and away from wide positions.

And when on the ball one winger inverts to become a second playmaker so they can play quickly through the centre in the final third.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Quite the competition for places with everyone fit, not surprised Carvalho was sold, Endo should really look at other options tbh, if Z comes in, he won't get many minutes.

Doak and Bajcetic need loans, Morton and Clark permanent deals.
                        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Yeah Trent holds the aces with his contract & none of us want to see him leave , especially on a free. And yeah as much as I like Bradley he hasn’t been at his best yet in PS.

Sounds like you’ve spent a bit of time analysing the opposition old mate. Best send Arne a DM as he’s probably not even heard of them before. Isn’t it 20 years since they were in the Prem?

Just went looking at them to see what sort of players they had last season in case they had some good cheap buys for my FF team.

Then found an article on a tactics site about their manager and it went into detail about his styles of seeting teams up the past two season with a detailed look at last season in terms of tactics, formations, off play pressuring and so on.

Was just an interesting read and McKenna comes acorss as quite a progressive manager.
