How many transfers free or otherwise have we said the same?

It just means he's not suited to other teams in terms of tactics, line-up or even if a team needs another striker. Could just be one team that he'd be right for.

Don't think that is really an indicator though given he is 24.

VVD did not have a big club go in for him until we did when he was 26.

Salah at the same age David is was just getting his permament move to Roma after having spent the previous few seasons being sent out on loan.

Sadio Mane at the same age was only getting his first move to a big club when we bought him.


Same with Firmino.

Don't think the fact a big club has not bought him younger is really a knock and even more so when the player himself was vocal about not wanting to leave Lille a few seasons ago as he felt he would not get the same amount of game time to develop elsewhere. Think it was Arsenal, Villa and the Red Mancs that were interested in him a few seasons ago and at present Villa, Newcastle, Arsenal and Barca are the teams rumoured to be looking at him.


He also made it clear that he does not really want a move to another club this Janauary and would prefer to see out his contract.

Yep especially as he can also play equally as well back in a false nine or AM role as he can up front and he brings a crazy work rate with him so he does the Ian Rush thing of defending from the front as soon as his team loses the ball.
