Abject from the forwards and midfield. The run of PL games from Ev to Newcastle is brutal tho. I think he rightly prioritised the league & I’m sure he will feel let down by some of those who played today.

We 100% deserved what we got. Plymouth were good value for the win.
I can’t think of many players that would get more than 5 out of 10 for their performances and that would be generous. I don’t think Fede was the worst, despite what many earlier in this thread have been saying. That honour would have to go to either the young lad at right back or Elliott who looked like he’d just been introduced to a football for the first time in his life over most of the match. Lucho didn’t look arsed and Jota absent while on the field. Perhaps the worst I’ve seen us play since the bad days of Woy. That might be a bit hyperbolic but I can’t recall such gash in recent years.
The squad as a whole need to take on board the reality that we won’t have anything handed to us on a plate. We need to out fight and out work the opposition every match as much as we might be able to out play them when things go our way. Today is a bit of a sickener. Hope they use it galvanise the team going forward. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

He is not really a proper midfielder either. He tends to get played in wider positions. He doesnt have the stature to impose himself on games in that way. Bit unfair to write him off.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI just don't think he is senior enough, he may have 120 games, but only half of them will be starts and he's never really been a regular starter, so IMO he doesn't have the experience to babysit two youngsters alongside him in midfield. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

“It's not torn I assume, but it didn't feel good for him. That was a bit of a blow because Curtis Jones was on the bench, but he came to me this morning and said, 'I don't think I am fully recovered yet' as well after the training session of yesterday.”
From Slots post match presser…. I did wonder why he didn’t use James to regain some control in the middle and add a bit of creativity too.

Although many of the players mentioned are first team/squad players they can't class as true leaders.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostGomez going off so early was obviously an issue but between Kweeve, Timmy, Elliot, Diaz, Chiesa and Nunez there should have been enough experience and leadership on the pitch
Look around our team, and other than Virgil is there really anyone who bosses the rest of the lads. No other vocal leaders...removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Midfield was poor but fairly inexperienced, it's the forwards I am most disappointed in though, Diaz, Jota, Chiesa all played 90mins, and Nunez played over half an hour and we failed to score, with all due respect to Plymouth you would hope those guys would have it in them to score at least 1 goalThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We have lost Hendo, Matip Fabinho, Milner, Thiago all in the last 3 years.
That is a lot of leadership and experience between them.
Robertson is captain material, but well past his best. The team is pretty young beyond that and nobody sticks out as a leader of men. I think that will have to be addressed. Maybe players like Grav, Konate, Dom and MacAllister will grow into those roles. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Yeah I did this Jota as captain was something of an odd choice when Gomez went off, he's not really a leaderOriginally posted by Charly View PostWe have lost Hendo, Matip Fabinho, Milner, Thiago all in the last 3 years.
