I am curious to know what if anything the PGMOL do in terms of training referees in consistency, surely there should be some level of training or evaluation where they still down and look at a match and the decisions and say if you gave fouls for these incidents what was different that you didn't give it for this one. The same should be the case for VAR officials the level of consistency fluctuates from game to game but the VAR official and the ref need to be on the same page in any particular game. E.g. if the ref gives lots of fouls for minor contact he sets the threshold for a foul fairly low, if he let's alot of stuff go then the threshold is higher and the VAR official needs to consider that as well.

Obviously we want consistency across games but consistency within a game would be a start.

Serious changes need to be made to the standard of refereeing - foreign referees would be a start.
Jones was a 2nd yellow you can't appeal that, also regardless of context he does push Dacoure hard in the back rather aggressively, I don't really think you can argue with that.

Slot and his assistants aren't getting overturned because it is their word against the official(s) and there is no way PGMOL don't back their man. All the ref has to say is that he felt they were aggressive towards him and that justifies it, PGMOL can claim that it was a safety issue (whether it was or not because he felt intimidated that us enough)

Not seen anything about what how or why the assistant got a red, just seen it stated as fact, anyone any ideas?

I wonder when you can actually have a go at the ref where he isnt allowed to card you. You'd think once the game is over the cards cant be done. What about inside the tunnel? Maybe wait till after the game and corner him in the car park. Could go the long way round. Send some heavies with bats.

For both the ref and lino to miss that is an outrage

Now compare it to some of the decisions that Everton got.

The match officials really need to explain why this wasn't a foul

Happens to Mo all the time as well - he must the highest number of unpunished fouls in PL history

It'd be nice to see that slowed down

It's so unbelievable that's not a foul - there are plenty of grey zone decisions in football, maybe most of them aren't black and white, but this is surely not one of them

It couldn't be clearer that his legs were taken out - it was clear watching it live on my phone from a camera 50 yards away.

Salah plays the ball sideways with a significant change of direction just before the challenge comes in, presumably the officials think that the change of direction is the Everton player winning the ball?. It looks to me like Oliver is quite close, I think you can just see his legs coming into shot as the clip ends. Not sure that being behind Salah is the best position to see it, not sure where the linesman is but if he is up with play I think he should probably have a better view.

Of course there are stories about Oliver's ego not wanting other officials to over rule him so I wonder if the linesman sees that but doesn't flag because it's Oliver or if he doesn't see it either

No ref watch on sky this week?

If Ferguson was still managing and that happened to him the club would have made a list of all the things that happened then got the ref banned form their matches like they've done before. How come we're so gutless when the fouls are as disgusting as this and numerous per game with Oliver and co. Sick of it. And why arent we diving everywhere like the others do since you wont get a free unless you dive these days.

Because then refs might suddenly remember they can book players for diving.

Diving sure, going down easy is different. Plenty of them purposely hunch forward waiting for contact at the back then fall over and grab the ball getting free kicks. See it often.
