A little concerning that we were poor first half and that it was two relatively soft penalties that got us maximum points. Not sure if it was more complacency, mental tiredness, physical tiredness or pressure that was the cause, but we made it difficult for ourselves.

I think it’s human nature, especially after a draining midweek gameOriginally posted by peterbread View PostIt feels like a bit of a theme with teams at the bottom over recent years. It sometimes feels like they come out and just expect to win with minimal effort in these games.
Was still an incredibly frustrating first half

Think Robbo also helped change things and got Diaz going. He’s been better recently.
Slot making changes that have a big impact again. But the general attitude from everyone was also much better.
Mac is the lynchpin to that midfield.
No coincidence that Diaz's game improved exponentially in the second half after Robbo came on.
Robbos demise has been greatly exaggerated by some. Obviously not the player he was and will than likely be replaced in the summer but he's still out first choice left back by quite a distance

That's what made me cack my pants soon as I sussed it. Thank God for the explanation given here though. Now I can really celebrate.Originally posted by Mark79 View PostThey haven’t. We get an additional sub as Southampton made a concussion sub.
If we did wrongly make an extra sub though, it would be an issue as we’d be docked points for it.
One tit for another.

Respectfully, no it hasn't. He's a shadow of what he used to be.Originally posted by spud_gun View Post

I think he's actually been more intelligent with his play this season, his passing has improved. Agree his pace has gone but his overall build up play is more composed.Originally posted by danperkins View PostRespectfully, no it hasn't. He made a huge difference in the second half, getting us forward with more intensity and decisivenessOriginally posted by spud_gun View PostThere's no denying that, I even acknowledged that in my post however my point was he's not playing as poorly as some, yourself included, would have us believe.
Tsimikas was probably the most **** from a lot of strong choices in that first half

He’s been solid enough.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostThere's no denying that, I even acknowledged that in my post however my point was he's not playing as poorly as some, yourself included, would have us believe.
A few games he’s been definitely below par and has then been rested or dropped but he always comes back and plays the big games, normally quite well.
We will hear about the few below par games ad nauseam until he leaves the club. People do have their bête noirs online and they will seek to reinforce these claims each time they can whilst ignoring everything that happens in between. Same as pretty much every player discussed on the internet on his way out. He plays a different game now in this formation as does Trent way more traditional as a full back.
We need a younger player to come in and cover that position but it may take that player a season or so of rotation to acclimatise.
Our defence has been pretty fantastic this season. Robbo and Trent have been part of that.Modifying post.

In some respects that is true, but he is still very much a top end of the PL level left back.
We notice the big fall off in him because we got used to him being one of the very best in the world in his position whereas now he is "only" a good left back.
He has been targetted by other teams this season more than in the past but, like TAA on the other side imo, I think it would not be outrageous to suggest that teams have gotten less joy out of this somewhat faded version of Robertson than they have at times out of the 26 year old TAA.
What I do think about him is that his minutes needed to be managed carefully going forward and that the player himself will probably have to get used to the idea of having to fight for a starting berth come next season rather than being one of the first namers on the team sheet.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
