He looks ****ing rubbish tbh, his passing looks awful, his attacking and shooting looks awful, he doesn't tackle. He looks lost in this league and he has an awful haircut as well.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. Still far from convinced he can physically succeed in the prem. Bit better recently, some nice combinations with Jones and great to see him get some production even if it's 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 games, it's something but we need so much more from him and the team for that matter.
Wirtz seems a luxury player at the moment and with half the season gone now we've only seen glimpses of magic from a 116m player and that is simply not good enough.. nowhere near it. It's very evident what this Liverpool side lacks and that is physicality, pace and power. It also lacks an identity but that's on the manager. I would like to see additions to the side that would compliment the attributes Wirtz has, considering we clearly bought him to build a team around. We've been so dysfunctional this season and the manager has really struggled.... it's hard to make a proper assessment on the player as we do know he has genuine quality. Whether or not that can translate to the league is the question and for that money.. let's hope it can and asap. Wirtz will get a fair crack at it and will have ample time to prove himself, time will tell.Last edited by danperkins; 02-01-26, 03:12 PM.

The haircut definitely worries me. Thank god Elliott will soon be back to give him some advice.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostHe looks ****ing rubbish tbh, his passing looks awful, his attacking and shooting looks awful, he doesn't tackle. Elliot got dropped into a performing team and anything he did well was seen as a bonus coming from such a young player.
Wirtz, a month younger than Elliot which I think sometimes gets forgotten about him, came into a misfiring team and if he has an average to decent performance it is seen as a let down regardless of his age.
What is very noticeable about Wirtz (and Jones for that matter) is that the level of control we have up the pitch drops off to a huge degree with subs get made.
Wirtz and/or Jones comes off, and our ability to recycle and keep the ball drops off a cliff and we go into backs to the wall mode.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

100% - the Leeds game was a massive example of this. We created nothing when they went off and maybe only slightly improved when Ngumoha came on.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View Post

They are building a nice relationship on the pitch.

Was that the first game you have watched recently? He’s been one of our best player the last few games. Slot has also said he wasn’t fully fit and had been feeling his ham string (and was why he was subbed)Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostHe looks ****ing rubbish tbh, his passing looks awful, his attacking and shooting looks awful, he doesn't tackle. Yeah mate, slightly improved before the last game but he's certainly not pulling up any trees.Originally posted by rudedog View PostWas that the first game you have watched recently? I disagree, thought his performances have been one of the few positives recently. He gets a pass for the Leeds game due to his injury/fitness (Slot should have rested him)Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostYeah mate, slightly improved before the last game but he's certainly not pulling up any trees.
