I'm not as confident as others on Wirtz adapting to the premier league, no doubting his talent but hopefully proven wrong and Iraola can get him firing.

I'm more than happy to be proved wrong, but I don't think he's ever going to be a big player for us. I just can't see it happening for him. Not sure that he has a place in a team playing a modern 4-3-3 formation.

I'm also skeptical, but really hoping he's a worldie.

I think this is the problem.

He doesnt have the pace for the wide positions.

Last season showed that he couldnt lead the press and Dom was fantastic as the point in midfield.

That only leaves a free or false nine role, but we spent £200m last season on strikers.

I do think he is a class player, but unless he can bulk up a bit Im not sure where he fits into the first 11. Good to have as an option, but I am not sure he will be happy on the bench. It should mean we have great options for at least next season.

He reminds me of coutinho. He doesn't fit a 4 3 3. Doesn't influence results enough. Sell.

The same Coutinho that was absolutely brilliant for us playing in a 4-3-3?

If we play to his strengths, he'll be epic for us. Don't sell

Yeah I’m with you Fierce, don’t sell. I’d like to see him shoot more tbh but not sure if that was Slot’s instructions not to shoot or his lack of confidence or whatever but I’d like to see him unleashed.

Totally agree.. This lad is special, even if he doesn't succeed in the Prem, he will be a star somewhere else, without a doubt.

Good thing the new boss plays 4231 then.

Yeah hopefully with us. Iraola needs to find the best way to unleash him. ????

Yeah it’s written by our own people but I agree. He was wasted when Musiala & he started together but in the end they opted to play Musiala from the bench.

Florian Wirtz was the engine of this German side at the World Cup. Every attack seemed to flow through him and he ended the tournament with three assists in four games.

He even created a clear-cut chance for Kai Havertz to put the game to bed, but the finish never came. Despite that, Wirtz showed exactly why he's considered one of the best young players in world football.

Liverpool have a genuine world-class talent on their hands, and Iraola has inherited a special player.

I saw that a stat that he had the 3rd most attacking plays/contributions after Olise and Mbappe

Interesting stat & it could have been even higher considering so much of the play went through Musiala when he started matches.

I noticed the German players were always looking to give him the ball whenever I watched them play. It seems to me that his team mates trust him with the ball in all manner of situations more than most/all of the rest of the team.

To be fair, our attacking play was some of the worst I have seen last year. There didnt seem to be a plan, and nobody seemed to make runs he could exploit.

Does make me wonder exactly how much control over transfer the managers now have. Hopefully this summers signing will have some kind of dialogue with the manager.
