It’s all good and well doing that when he’s higher up the pitch closing down and trying to make things happen. He also gave the ball away both times for Bournemouths goals trying to force things. He can leave that to players like Wirtz, Salah, Gakpo and Ekitike and play a bit within himself if he wants to play in the deeper role.

Not a criticism of him but like the team a bit of adjustment and time is needed for it all to click together. He does look like he’s got a good long range pass on him which we’ve not seen due to his role in the team previously which could be a nice addition. We know how dangerous VVD is with his and we’ve lost Trent so another option would help.
I don’t think it was Dom that lost the ball for their second goal, it was a risky pass to nobody in particular across their box from Mo. It was his silly flick that lost the ball for their first one though. Their execution on that one was like us at our best. Konate’s defending for their second goal though……jeez.

Right so keeping quiet would be ideal instead of making that leap.

I think a red card would be harsh in those circumstances for the reasons you mentioned. So I am not concerned about the outcome - from that point of view they made the correct decision.

The problem for me is the process, sky said the VAR official said that it happened because it bounced up off his knee and hit his arm making it accidental, which anyone who watched the video could see wasn't the case. The PL statement said something different. If they had said that it wasn't a red card because...and therefore no freekick to Liverpool. I don't think anyone has a problem, it's a subjective decision and you can see why it's been made. But if you have differing explanations or the VAR officials say something which everyone at home can see is wrong then we are going to have problems, accusations, conspiracy theories etc.

The system isn't perfect but IMO 95%+ of the problems come from the incompetence of the operators
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Which suggests to me that they were looking at the bounce onto the elbow and didn't even notice the subsequent slap of the ball.

Did he make contact with the ball with his second swipe at it?
He definitely tried to, but I didn’t think he actually reached it.

given the speed of the review, that’s highly likely.
We are here for a good time not a long time....

Yeah he definitely did, there is an angle where you can see the flight of the ball changes.

It didn't move that much isn't a defence. And it did move. Anyway wasn't used.

What they said, it was all part of the same move and wasn't intentional.

Obviously that was the wrong call. It wasn't really that hard of a call to make. Like Jamie said, I don't like seeing red cards for stuff like this and we ended up seeing a great game. But yeah VAR ****ed up again.

They're just a bunch of nerds that didn't make it at football so went into reffing, right. Which I kinda resemble myself. But I don't really understand why they make simple stuff look so difficult.

Last season, we only conceded 2 goals to counter attacks. This season, we’ve conceded 2 in the first game.

We definitely need another defensive midfield to rotate with Gravenberch

That’s quite the stat that sums up our situation.

I don’t think that a DM is the antidote to those counter attacks.

It was the fullbacks that seemed most at fault imo.

Endo is a good enough back up even though he got caught out on the second counter that time.

Giving the ball away cheaply in attack was probably the biggest difference.

                              Yes.
Also the centre backs being too far up the pitch meaning they can be caught out in a sprint or a clever diagonal pass.

We never need 8 players in the opposition box, it's school playground stuff.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
