I saw the talk in the Salah thread about the changes to be less reliant on Mo and saw this stat for the season so far.
Liverpool's 8 league goals this season have been scored by 7 players (Ekitike, Gakpo, Chiesa, Salah, Grav, Ngumoha, Szobo) - the joint-most scorers ever in the club's first 3 matches of a top-flight season, along with 1993-94 (Clough, Rush, Nicol, Ruddock, McManaman, Whelan, Marsh).

Glad that’s over, our investment in the squad after the 19/20 win and over the last few years has been a big oversight, even the midfield rebuild was overdue, hopefully this corrects the lack of investment and will allow time to replace Salah, VDV plus another defender in a controlled manner. Liverpool are now favourites for the FA Cup, League Cup, Premier League and Champions League.
PSG had been favourites for the CL.

I don’t think so- 2 good options for each position:Originally posted by Catrin View PostAnyone else feel we are a little light in numbers in attack?
Gakpo/Rio on the left
Isak/Ekitike in the middle
Salah/Chiesa on the right.
The likes of gakpo/chiesa/Ekiteke can cover other positions in the front 3.
Also the likes of Wirtz/Sobbo/Frimpong can step into the front 3 in an emergency.
If we had any more attackers, I think we’d have to worry about players not being happy with the amount of opportunities they would get.

We had a big summer because …
Diaz wanted to go
We’d given up on Nunez
We tragically lost Jota
We had the psr headroom
The right players were available and we went for quality as we needed to replace the goals and assists of an ageing player before his body realises how old he is.
I don’t think City was a factor unless the owners think the EPL are actually going to punish them properly for their cheating.
Anyone else feel we are a little light in numbers in attack? If we have injuries during afcon there’s a risk people will be playing full 90 mins when we don’t want them to. We have Danns but anyone else?

I wonder if part of the reason we've had such a huge summer is because of Citeh's woes.
They've spent a lot of money but a lot of their signings have been lackluster to say the least. Pep is seemingly out of contract in the summer and there is a high chance that he'll be off.
This summer has essentially seen us setup the squad for the next 5 seasons. We're in a great position to pick up 3/4 titles in that time frame.
For Jürgen to challenge Citeh as closely as his great Liverpool teams did is remarkable given the gulf in resources. It was almost futile. The rest of the league almost certainly abandoned any notion of.them challenging Citeh during that period.
So I wonder if senior management have essentially been binding their time knowing that Citehs success wasn't sustainable. As soon as the signs were there that Citehs form was more than a blip the decision was made to go all out this summer and set us up to dominate (hopefully) for the foreseeable.
A summer like the one we've just had was always on the cards just a question of when

Some serious depth especially in defence now.

He could easily cover LW and RW as well. Play him anywhere Milner style.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostDom a RB option also!

I was apprehensive before the Arsenal game but he dealt so well with Martinelli that I think if he had a season or two to get used to the intricacies and nuances of the position he’d be a world class right back.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostDom a RB option also!
