We’ve already got an 88th minute a 90+4 and a 90+10 min goals after 2 games this season. Elite mentality.
We need to sort it out at the back as we’ve scored 7, and can’t be relying on this sort of **** all season long as it’s no good for the health. I’m heavily leaning into the comfort blanket of last seasons league win when we keep chucking it away (and then snatching it back) but in each game you always fancy we are going to create a late chance. We keep going.
2 utterly exhausting games.
And ****ing Arsenal and another set piece/long throws/falling over a lot exhibition to come.

Can we reanimate Ian Rush? Is Robbie too old now?Originally posted by Pablo View Post

When was the last time we started the season as favourites?
This is the season of the elite number 9:
City have Haaland
Arsenal have Gyokeres
We have Isak

Chelsea have Delap
United have Sesko
Strikers are back baby

Citehs bench looked very impressive at the weekend.Originally posted by peterbread View PostWay too early to judge any team. We’ll have more of an idea of where everyone falls in a couple of months.
Agree on City they don’t look the same in terms of quality but I still wouldn’t rule them out. The other side for them is also where is Pep at mentally. Is he off next season and has he decided to stay for one season too many to go for one last tittle.

Arsenal also should be best placed to have a good start. They’ve the most settled squad and had a full preseason compared to ours and cities changes and the other twos late and short preseason.

I think Arsenal have signed well, Zubimendi frees Rice to go box to box and it gives them the most balanced defense in the league. Their set piece ability is a real plus but IÂ’m not sure Gyokeres can replicate his form in the PL. if they signed another wide forward instead of Martinelli then theyÂ’ll be hard to beat unless Arteta prevents them
Chelsea have CL now do they canÂ’t play two separate sides each week and theyÂ’ve CWC will eventually catch up.
We are the team to beat but we also need another defender and attacker, IÂ’d love another DM but that ainÂ’t happening
Zubamendi had a tough debut, as did Gyökeres who barely kicked the ball. United are improved, they will not challenge but they will trip teams up I think.
Chelsea are a basket case. Apparently Palmer hasnÂ’t scored outwith pens in the PL since Feb.
Of all the forwards coming into the league Ekitike has definitely started the best tho Cesko looks a handful.
We will be in and amongst it and we are as champions who have invested in some top talent the team to beat! As it should be. I think Jota is a factor and IÂ’d not be surprised to see the lads hit an emotional wall at some point.Last edited by Buzzo; 18-08-25, 04:27 PM.

Just time together. They have such a big and deep squad, I think they're finding their feet and understanding their manager. Maybe you're correct and goalscoring might be problematic, it's what hampered them last season, but if they sort that they'll be properly challenging.Originally posted by rudedog View PostWhy Chlesea above us? I think we'll win the league again. Wolves have lost players and signed cloggers, it's no surprise they lost badly to City.

You could tell Salah was effected all night. In the tunnel before the game he was crouched down on his haunches and looking like he was elsewhere.
Then his angry reaction to the scuffle with the Bournemouth player at a corner. He never usually reacts like that.
