I'm just happy this is at home. If it was away I'd be dreading it so early in the season.

Michael Salisbury is removed as VAR for Liverpool vs. Arsenal.
Salisbury was the VAR for Chelsea vs. Fulham who disallowed Josh King's goal.
PGMO acknowledges it was an incorrect VAR intervention.
Will they be stricter or more lenient. I’m not sure what to expect but he will be under pressure if anything comes his way.Last edited by peterbread; 31-08-25, 01:49 PM.

Strange cos I thought it was correctly called a foul. Not deliberate but he was not in full control of the action of his movement therefore he was likely to come down heavy on someone's foot. Which he did.Originally posted by peterbread View PostMichael Salisbury is removed as VAR for Liverpool vs. Arsenal.

What about the ref? He was sent to the monitor and then changed his decision.Originally posted by peterbread View PostMichael Salisbury is removed as VAR for Liverpool vs. Arsenal.

Either he is equally to blame for the mistake or PGMOL are effectively admitting the referees ‘final say’ is a farce and that VAR IS being used to re-ref games.
This has been obvious to everyone else for some time but PGMOL have refused to admit it.

Hopefully he is held accountable too. We might have heard about the VAR because he’s in for this game but the ref wouldn’t be in charge again until the next round of games.

Nah - it was a coming together, no malice no intent. It’s a contact sport there was no foul play. He’s turning there is literally nowhere else for his foot to go.Originally posted by BigChief View PostStrange cos I thought it was correctly called a foul. He wasn’t even looking at the Chelsea player who went down, stayed down and milked it.
If this sort of thing is penalised we are going to be left with an empty shell of a game no passion, no skill. It will soon barely be worth celebrating a goal as we instead wait for the forensic analysis of what went on before.
I genuinely think of that goal was allowed we aren’t even talking about the ‘foul’ this morning.Modifying post.

Yeah go to the screen and disagree? I don’t understand why they never challenge back when referred to the screen.Originally posted by rudedog View PostWhat about the ref? He was sent to the monitor and then changed his decision.

Go watch a replay of Old Firm. Was a classic.Originally posted by brightred View PostThese 4.30 kick offs really make Sundays crawl by.
I've read the while of the Sunday Indo and the Times and there's still over an hour to go.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
