He didn’t think of shooting - he just didn’t get his head up to pick someone out and instead hit the ball into the one space where nobody was. Isak was rightly fuming.

I imagine/hope that means that Gakpo will be a sub on Tuesday whilst Wirtz will start.Originally posted by vlahka View PostAbsolutely ignored him. He was just thinking of shooting and nothing else. It was very stupid leaving gakpo on but taking wirtz off.
Isak is just getting minutes in his legs at the moment, be interesting to see him alongside Ekitike with Wirtz and Dom providing them.

We know frimpong can go outside and cut back as hes on his right foot.Originally posted by peterbread View PostFrimpong and Rio will help Isak get the opportunities in the box he needs to score. He needs wingers who can get crosses in to him.
I think rio is always going to prefer to come inside on his right foot.
Not sure how well he can be a provider of width and cut back on his left foot.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Rio has shown in his few appearances he’s very happy to go on the outside and use his left foot to cross the ball. He looks very comfortable using his left foot and you can see the massive improvement he’s already made with all round play from his debut last season. It’s one area that’s going to make him so unpredictable as a player. The defender just won’t know which way he’s going.

If I hadn't seen him play for Newcastle I would struggle to see a Championship player in there to behonest. He looks a very limited goal hanging number 9. What does he do well?
I think the key thing for me is he's another player that just doesn't suit us and the way we play? I feel the same about Wirtz. Both would be better off in a team that suits them? (Arguably the league doesn't suit Wirtz either).
If I could get my money back on both now I'd take it. It's why I think a new manager with new ideas might be able to get the best out of both of them.
(This may all be because I am feeling overwhelming negative about the team and manager right now
)

Wasted season for Isak but if he gets some games under his and a decent pre-season I think he will be the main man next season.Originally posted by Pablo View PostIf I hadn't seen him play for Newcastle I would struggle to see a Championship player in there to behonest. With Flo, was always going to be a challenge due to the physicality of the league, but he is a generational talent who I think will knock our socks of next yearI make no apologies, this is me

For Isak he needed some proper pacy wingers to get the best out of him as he had at Newcastle. We should surely have identified that before we signed him? Honestly it just seems like negligence.
If we'd still had Diaz and if Salah hadn't regressed quite so drastically I think he might have done better.
Get a Diomande, or dare I suggest it a Gordon, in and we might start to see him come to life?

Agree, but we might need to go to the shelf below, but that's fine IMO, just find a couple of young pacey wingers, they are everywhere these days. Minteh was one we looked at who could've been useful in this system, although maybe a new manager brings different emphasis.Originally posted by Pablo View PostFor Isak he needed some proper pacy wingers to get the best out of him as he had at Newcastle. This is why I am more and more thinking that we will stick with Slot, last season was only half the job in building the squad, bringing in a striker and a #10 (and assuming we had at least one winger in Salah), now we need to add those wingers and build the midfield that allows us to get the best out of Wirtz to finish the jobOriginally posted by Pablo View PostFor Isak he needed some proper pacy wingers to get the best out of him as he had at Newcastle. We were heavily linked with Gordon but the Geordies wouldn't entertain us buying both of their star players...Originally posted by Pablo View PostFor Isak he needed some proper pacy wingers to get the best out of him as he had at Newcastle. Probably cost a lot more to buy Anthony Gordon ( especially once wages get factored in) than it would to get Diomande IMO.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
