CL Galatasaray away Tuesday 30th Sept 8pm

Time to get ourselves sorted out defensively. Obviously there’ll be changes for this one.

    Mama
    Frimpong
    Gomez
    Virg
    Robbo
    Jones
    Macca
    Wirtz
    Chiesa
    Ekitike
    Gakpo
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Robbo must start. I'd play Endo too.

Ali will start too, the CL is his comp. Mama will get the league and FA cup, and maybe any dead fixtures if we qualify from the group stages early in the CL.

We'll go strong, we need to get some rythm going for us:

          Ali
          Bradley - Gomez - VVD - Kerkez
          Grav - Dom
          Wirtz
          Salah- Ekitike - Chiesa

Gomez has a chance now to kick Konate out, Bradley and Frimpong will have fight on too. Dom is first name on the sheet, with Grav. Macca needs to sort himself out. Wirtz needs to get a goal or an assist.

Jones, Macca, Isak, Gakpo and Frimpong/Robbo can come on.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

That's a good team. I wouldn't mind seeing that at all.

WTF is going on? Saving for the weekend?

[Pearce] Understand it's a selection decision with Chiesa, no fitness issues and he's registered to play having replaced the injured Leoni in the Reds' CL squad last Friday.

I'd guess enough forward subs on the bench already (the main reason why Chiesa was not in the original CL squad) so Chiesa misses out to accommodate an extra defender?

Supposedly there is some family/personal issue that Chiesa is being given the time off for.

As bad as Konate was against Palace, Gomez was equally as shocking against Southampton. No chance Gomez starts. i wouldn't mind dropping Salah for this one, if we were to try something a bit different but i doubt we will and rely on Ekitike magic.

I hope it's that. Otherwise he should be the first attacking player named in the team at present.

Slot says Chiesa felt a niggle in training so didn’t travel.

Would have been ideal to play Chiesa vs Gala, typical.

I rarely do this but I watched Hugo’s and Slot’s interviews just now. I couldn’t help but notice that foreign journalists, Turkish in this case obviously, seem to ask far sharper footballing questions than our own who, by and large, tend to be more concerned with click bait and gossip. Perhaps it shouldn’t have surprised me but the difference was stark.

They’ve got good domestic form with 7 wins from 7 scoring 19 & conceding 2 although they did get flogged 5-1 from Eintracht in match day 1.
