The players haven't just forgotten how to play so it must be a lack of preparation and lies at the door of the coaching team. Last night the easy option of VVD to Konate to Alisson to VVD was probably the most frequent play.

How many times do you hear along the lines of 'he knew where the player would be'? Nothing like that is happening and the only partnership on the field last night that existed last season was the centrebacks to Gravenberch and Galatasaray snuffed that out meaning we were forced wider into unfamiliar links

Well it's not the quality of the squad, so it's inevitably going to mean all eyes are on Slot. Our inability to prevent opponents creating chances is clearly structural. He needs to sort it soon.

It's a real shame Leoni got a horrific injury as he could have been a part of a solution. Gomez isn't the answer so we're stuck with Konate and that's a grim prospect.

We have changed so much that it seems like too much. All our patterns of play seem out of whack and constantly rotating positions (some of which is enforced) is resulting in a lack of fluidity. We miss Trent’s ability to pass out of defence on the right side for sure. For all we focused on his sloppiness at the back his ability to pass progressively was perhaps being overlooked.

Difficult second album season for Slot potentially. Suspect we will need to be patient and maybe view this as the transition season we thought last season would be. Slots already delivered more than I personally could have dreamed of so I’m happy to see how this season plays out. It’s not been all ****e, there have been glimmers but we can’t put in a 90min performance.

The biggest worry for me is Macca - he was ****ed at the end of last season and has struggled to get going this. He is so important to how we play.

Slot must have thought it worked fine last season while we were trying to conserve injuries with our team. But theres no need to hold back now with the replacements we got. Rat **** but essential to our deep build up, we really miss that part of his game

Is Dom the best option for RB right now if we need someone to help the build up and play longer passes from the back? He’s shown he’s capable of playing those passes and can get up and down the pitch, move into midfield and his crossing is top level.

I like him in midfield but if it’s going to be a 2 with a 10 maybe more controlling midfielders like Gravenberch, Alexis and Jones work better for balance. Then Frimpong gives us a genuine alternative to Salah.

Saying all that it didn’t help yesterday but he has been very good there this season. Just throwing thoughts out there.

Guehi would be perfect right now not just for his defending but also his ability with the ball. He’s not just a good passer but can carry the ball forward and start attacks. Palace really did screw us firstly delaying the deal and not responding then pulling it last minute.

Seems like all teams are not treating these early games too seriously. Only 6 teams, out of 32, on maximum points in the second week.

They must have learned the lessons from last season. PSG finished 15th and Liverpool 1st. The rest is (recently painful) history.
