Why the **** have we got 5ft 3" macallister marking 6ft 12" onana on corners ffs.
Onana is chucking him around like a terrier with a new squeaky toy.

Everton at home was the last time we scored a league goal from a decent attacking routine, the kind you train for. Good that we are scoring, but they're coming from quantity of crosses and pressure in the box more than quality. I want us to score good team goals, sorry about that. THen I'll know that we have a some coherence in our play.

And a mention the three senior leaders who all stood up and played well tonight. Robertson looked very good, Mo finding some form and VVD his usual calm controlled self.

The balance of the team was so much better with a proper three man midfield and one always seemed to be staying back.
I noticed this too. Gravenberch was going forward but Mac Alistair was sitting deep when he did. I don't mind that as long as someone is sitting deep.

Yeh, I mean seeing a full on throat grab not result in a sending off is bizarre, even if Mac did make more of it than needed. If holding is an issue, then holding by the throat is surely an offence.
          Really?

I'm pleased he didn't get a red because of macca holding his face. ****ing hate cheating.

I know what you mean, you don’t need to apologise . However, we do create loads of chances in open play - even today. If we weren’t that’d be an issue.

…Anyway. Good win and something to build on. I agree also that it wasn’t perfect but there were good signs.

I agree with the comments on the press - I don’t think effort has been an issue press wise this season the issue is the press has not been connected. If only one player presses we get played through, if everyone presses at the right moment we put pressure on the ball.

The only worry is really that is Slot going to be forced to flog this starting XI to death because he does t trust the bench again?

I do agree that I don't want to see more of what Mac did from our players. It's just not right. However, I do think the offence itself was worthy of a red. Mac clearly agreed.

That was better but I think the smart decision would be to sell Salah in jan if there is a big Saudi offer. His searing pace is just not there anymore and it needs to be as gakpo isn’t very explosive off the mark on the other side.

Ideally you want two rapid wingers.

Robertson should remain in the side.

There is a consistency issue here, more often than not that is a red card, MacAllister makes the most of it, but most players in that position tend to, I'd be interested to know what about that made it a yellow rather than a red and see if that is applied consistently...

Much better performance. Quicker passing, improved pressing from the front and better work rate. I do think Villa didn't cause many problems where as other teams can penetrate us easily. Slot needed that win though.

Yup. Makes no sense. It's obviously a potentially dangerous offence - totally unnecessary and brings the game into more than a little disrepute. The more I think of it, the more surprised I am that Onana remained on the pitch.

I think that is going to be an issue, I think there are only about 16 players that he trusts to start yet and a few haven't settled yet

Or move him somewhere else. At the end there I thought he was playing more central and it seemed to be working - others disagreed - but he can't play out right anymore. There's still a very decent player there, but not one who has to rely on pace. As for Gakpo, I always thought centre forward was a better role for him. Plenty of competition for that role.
