I've never understood it - if you are attacking and controlling the game, why then opt to sit back? It's inviting trouble. I feel like I've seen it backfire far more often than work.

To me it makes a lot more sense to bring on fresh attackers and give the oppo something new to think about in defending.

The opposition are gaining momentum and you are losing control.of the game as it's becoming more open. An additional defensive minded player is probably better than a forward who has been pushed back into doing a similar role. We had a great record of seeing out games when Endo came on a while back.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We've got age-related decline with Virg/Salah, some players blowing hot and cold, and some new players that aren't showing why big money was lashed on them.
Konate has never been solid without virge to hold his hand.
Now virge is no longer the monster he has been its highlighting how poor konate is.
Is virge still talking konate through the games, or is he just throwing his arms in the air and mumbling under his breath at everyone else, dont forget to also criticise yourself, virge!
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

So, me, as a tactical 12 year old - why can't we just keep attacking?
          Really?

None of this would be happening if we had kept big Nat who single handedly got us into the champions league. Could do with that right now.

Owen said something interesting. Cant recall the exact number cause my brain is swiss cheese, but he said we've conceded 10 or whatever goals from set pieces so far this season. We have set piece coaches, who you always see shouting at the sidelines. But when you lose to set pieces they vanish and its the manager who has to answer the questions. They need to be taking some blame.

Bournemouth and Palace spring to mind, two other games where we squandered 2 goal leads

Well we can all agree it’s a big mess and everyone’s got to take their share of the responsibility and it needs to get sorted soon or we’re headed into more trouble.

Exactly what Leeds fans were asking afterwards.

I don't recall a 2 goal lead Vs palace. In the league we were losing 1-0, went very attacking, equalised late and then conceded a second. In the community shield we tried to defend a one goal lead with endo coming on etc and conceded an equaliser.

Against Bournemouth, we made the defensive subs at 2-1 up and immediately conceded an equaliser, then brought on chiesa and won 4-2.

I'm not really seeing a pattern tbh, other than chiesa is the only sub worth making

You can add the Newcastle and Atheletico games where we also squandered leads, there was definitely a feeling that the team didn’t know how to change tactics to close a game out.

This goal is so bad. Tanaka is never marked or identified once in the build up to the goal. He’s free the moment before the corner is taken and he’s free as he slams the ball home.

Am i allowed to say how much i absolutely hate watching Cody Gakpo play.

Ive never really wished injury on any of our players, but what id give to see this guy forced out the side. An absolute black hole of a player.

Agreed, don’t rate him at all, one trick pony and hampering Kerkez’s progress imo.

He's another that is far more effective given space. He's usually receiving the ball with his back to goal and 8 men between him and the target. He's been effective in the most part
