So true. The only way I see us winning is if the players go against Slots instructions & just go for it.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Harvey will be sitying in tbe stands not giving a ****

Apparently villa asked to renegotiate the loan deal and Liverpool said no.

Cant help feel thats a little petty.

Villa dont want him. Either send him back or remive the purchase clause. The inaction will cause his value to dip further

I’ve seen this talked about and who is to blame. It seemed a pretty straight forward deal. Villa couldn’t afford him this season so we gave them the loan to help them. We got a low number of games needed to make it permanent so felt sure it was going to become permanent and could plan for the future.

You also need to remember Liverpool would have had the wages off the books for this season and next which lets them plan for new contracts and new signings so it’s not straight forward to just bring him back. Plus they would have had that income from the permanent sale set in for new signings. Plus he’s got 1 year left on his deal so any transfer fee Liverpool might get would be lower now.

It’s not Liverpool’s fault villa messed up and had issues between their manager and DOF.

While it’s not great for Elliot and he’s stuck in the middle I don’t know what should have been done. He wouldn’t have played much if we brought him back because Slot didn’t want him. Would he have played more at Villa if it was a changed deal. I mean Emery clearly didn’t want him either and didn’t think he was good enough to keep on a permanent deal. He might have played a few more games but not that many.

They should have just terminated it. We have 4/5 midfielders, and one of them is MacAllister and one plays rightback. Or terminated it and reloaned, or removed the clause.

Problem is us and Villa were competing for what could have been the same CL spot, if we had loosened the requirements and he contributes to them getting the spot ahead of us and it's a poor decision on our part, if they let him come back and he gets us the CL spot at their expense it's a poor decision on their part. Neither club wanted to take that risk and Harvey was the one who lost out.

I said from our point of view it was a no brainer to have brought him back in January if we could have, because even if he was just coming off the bench for 20 mins he was a better option than what we had otherwise and he'd be getting more minutes than he had been getting at Villa
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Are we on 1892 or 2026 for the game tonight?

If Frimpong is out to I really hope we see one of the young players come in. Maybe Nynoni can finally get some significant minutes or Morrison to play out wide.

Starting XI: Liverpool vs. Aston Villa: Mamardashvili; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Jones, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; Gakpo. Subs: Woodman, Wirtz, Salah, Chiesa, Robertson, Nyoni, McConnell, Ndiaye, Wright.

Will it be Szoboszlai out on the right and Gakpo in front and Rio left or will it be Gakpo and Rio wide with Jones and Szoboszlai as 2 10’s.
