Almost every game that Kellher played for us he looked solid. We never worried when he was used as backup. Even years back when he started playing, he always looked solid. Ignoring the current penalty given away, hes saved more penalties than our last 4 keepers combined. I say that without actually knowing any stats, but I feel I'm completely correct as I recall stuff all saves for others. He saved more than Allison and thats saying something.

I know you said one of the best young keepers in the world and again imo there is not much evidence that is true based on his time at a **** Valencia side, **** national side and his first season at LFC. Whether of not he succeeds, fails, improves remains to be seen.... I hope he does.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostYes there is. He has had a number of seasons in a row looking very good as a YOUNG keeper.
I did not call him world class or say that he is currently one of the very best keepers in the game, I said he is one of the best YOUNG keepers. As in he is one of those with the potential to become a very good keeper, maybe better.
I phrased it the way I did in case anyone thought I was calling him one of the best around ful stop, which I was not doing.
I also stand by saying that I think he is a keeper in the style of Oblak rather than one in the style of Alisson and that his strengths are similar to those of Oblak (weaknesses too for that matter).
Do think we a settled back four in front of him, that he would then show his worth as a good to very good shot stopper and be the sort of "wall" keeper that is there to make the important saves when the back line gets breached.
What he is not is a sweeper keeper in the style of the lad I mentioned in Diogo Costa and think we are making mistakes if we keep comparing Mamar to Alisson and bemoaning the fact that certain aspects of what Alisson did/does so well are not strengths of Mamar's.
We have a good keeper on our hands with him. One that is an excellent YOUNG keeper who might become our next very good senior keeper with more experience.
One things I am very sure of, regardless of how good Mamar does or does not become, and that is that he is one of the least of our on and off pitch issues right now

Not saying hes our biggest problem. I'm just still pissed we dont have kelleher.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostBut what does that have to do with Mamardashvili? Neither are peak Ali, but who is? Of all the fish to fry, the goalkeeping situation is looking like a sprat compared to everything else.

Slot doesn't know how to set the team up, look at the side that played: we had the league winning midfield of last season, we had 3/4 of our first choice back 4, the one who wasn't first choice was Gomez who is experienced and defensively minded, forward line was a mess. But it's a game where you are going away from home, with limited forward options and a point secures CL football for the season.
I'm not saying that you have to go in there super defensive but FFS make yourselves difficult to play against, with our forward options we were never going to out gun them, the best chance of winning involved keeping it solid and nicking a 1-0 or a 2-1 or something. We were carved open again and again and again with what should have been a solid midfield and defence. Ok we had out 2nd choice keeper, but he wasn't the issue, we were so ****ing easy to play through and that comes down to the manager, yes there is confidence issues with the side too but again that's on the manager.
IMO it's just best that Slot and LFC part ways in the summer as next season either there is some amazing turn around or things get very toxic very quickly, and from here the latter seems far more likely...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Even compared to last season, the drop off in defensive solidity is embarrassing. Mo wasn't defending much last season, but at least he was a major goal threat. Grav was a solid 6, now he is a free-roaming, whatever he wants to be type player. Even with the inevitable departures in the summer, I still think we can challenge for the league next season if we recover our intensity and fitness and play to our strengths up front. Slot just isn't the man to lead that change though.
We are here for a good time not a long time....
