    Total rubbish.

We need a real goalscorer, one that does it every other match, and Defoe hasn't done that for ages now, we need Bellamy for the speed he offers options, how we could do with a poacher to work alongside the hard working Kuyt.

Defoe is lightning isnt he??? I've not really seen Bellamy use his pace since he joined us.

I'd take Defoe personally, I agree that Bellamy has more of a will to win, but if he cant produce the goods necessary to win games whats the point??

Defoe IMO has the potential to be a matchwinner, if he can improve his consistency he could be a very good player, he's lively, quick, good dribbler and has pulled out some cracking finishes in his time.

Very different players for me. Defoe is more of a poacher and the better finisher of moves, Bellamy is at his best starting off moves, running with the ball at his feet from deep IMO. Rafa seems to be trying to turn Bellamy into the same kind of player as Defoe or asking him to fulfil a similar role at least, which as we are seeing is not as easy as it sounds.

What's the point are we really gaining out of the deal?

It really is like for like, players who are capable of scoring one in three if Bellamy is going then we need to bring someone in who is capable of one in two.

Yesterday proved that we need a striker who is capable of scoring more conisistently, Stevie can't rescue us every game as was proved last week at Boro.

I don't think they are alike at all.

But tbh it strikes me as almost certainly bollocks anyway

              Ugh.

Just sell Bellamy and get somebody good enough in. Defoe isn't that player.

Why swap mediocre for mediocre? It gets us nowhere.

It could be another Josemi/Kromkamp manoeuvre from Rafa, he thinks Defoe is worth more than Bellamy and is a similar level of player. Jol hates Defoe so he's available in a direct swap and if he doesnt make it with us, he'll get more in selling fees.

Then again who knows how Rafas mind works!

                      why so supprised.
As i said, he is a more natural goal scorer than most strikers in the league
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Shame he can't or won't or doesn't do it more often then.

Defoe is a terrible finsiher, he just hits and hopes, this is why he very rarely gets over 9 goals a season.

9 goals in 40 odd games last season, one season he got 13 with a few in the championship, he got 18 for bournemouth, never got more than ten in jusdt the prem, what shows him as a natural finisher? He lacks the finese of a natural finisher his style is is to hit it as hard as he can towards the goal and hope it hits the target.
