A badge is something we shouldn't be messing around with and once every 100 years is enough for me. I think if we changed it back it might be badly received by the Hillsbrough relatives etc.*

    * that was a really badly phrased paragraph but my brain won't let me get my point across better

That way it is a permanent reminder of the success of the club.
We'd have to change it every couple of years, when we won more European Cups.

the club will not revert back to the old badge due to the 2 flames on the current one that are there as a mark of remeberence to the 96.

There was a nice badge design done that just had the Liverbird and the two flaming torches on either side. Looked good.

Dropping the Shankly Gates and Eternal Flame (The 96) would be wrong. They were put there for a reason. It's part of our History that must never be Forgotten.

It's more than just a cosmetic change

There are many parts of our history that should never be forgotten. Shouldn't a badge should be simple? You could say it's not supposed to be a montage of our history it's supposed to be an emblem of it. On the other hand, if you can do that and fit these things in then why not?

For me, the Liver and Eternal flames alone would make a much nice badge. Better than the current one? Not sure. People will argue the current badge is too cluttered, but on the other hand it is great that we managed to incorporate so many things into it.

Sorry to sit on the fence

I wasn't sure about about the changes when they were made, but now that it's done, I feel that removing them will be a slight on those that were honoured.

Anyway, I can't see any reason to change it now

Agree on both counts. I like our badge as it is. Perhaps for many people it's just a nostalgic thing preferring the old badge. I'd lean towards keeping what we have.

I'd be happy if we dropped the Shankly Gates. Can't see why anyone would object to that. Also, lose the green.
                      Oh I don't know.

Of course you are assuming that all new owners behave like Roman.
                        Why would DIC consider this?

i am not saying they would, but i was thinking yesterday about the badge, i am a graphic designer and love the old badge, i don't hate the current one either. I would never suggest getting rid of the two eternal flames representing lost loved ones...thats not the issue.
I feel no need for the gates, i think it does clutter the badge, i love the simplisity of the liver bird and the tradition of it, after all isn't that what LFC about? DIC may have no intention of changing anything, but if i was about to shell out 450 mill i may want to revert back to what i consider a superior badge.

We can not go back to the old badge as it was; for copyright reasons. The old Liverbird is public domain- i think- and we would need a design that is suitably unique ( and yes i know you can not have degredations of Unique) to be able to copy right it. You need this to protect your "brand " identity. You will notice that Arsenal have redesigned thier old badge as have chelsea, part of this is the copy right issue.

I would love us to go back to a simple Liverbird but it will probabl;y never happen. I just find that the new design ( with the gates; the flames and the sheild) to clustered. Also the liverbird appears tiny on the shirts... well apart from on that top in the 90's with Cricket style colour - as the badge was just huge on that top.

I think we should ditch the shield and the gates and just have a Liverbird ( gold on Red ) with the flames flanking it. It was me that posted the mock up on KT( it was the whole kit not just the badge) but i do not have the design any more , or more importantly access to the assets to make another mock up : as i no longer work For EA on FIFA( so I can not modify thier professionaly made crest and kits )
