A few things on Pennant

Why can't he play like he did for 80% of the game tonight all the time?

Why does he look quick sometimes and other times not look in the slightest bit quick?

Why does he have that how 'dare you foul me you dirty fcuker' 'ref, ref, ref' do something about that hecking cnut look about him every time he's fouled?

thought he was average tbh but it was a great run and cross for Robbie's second.

The lad has a good game and still people have a go at him! I am fed up of people being such ****s about him, why do people moan about him moaning about the ref Bellers does it all the time and people say it's great.Talk about double standards!

Thats true,when he's taking over Gerrard's role of last season and he's on the pitch,he don't seem happy.

I think that Pennant will start to play better now just as many other players because they now know that we will have the money to replace them.

No more games when the players doesn't give 100%.

I thought Pennant did well last night. He also worked incredibly hard off the ball which I'd not really noticed before (not saying he doesn't normally work hard). Fair play to the lad.

I'd like to think so, but for some players it will just increase the pressure- and I suspect JP is one of those players. He looks like pressure just makes him worse - consider he was under little pressure at Brum last year and looked twice the player (although 2x0 is still 0 so thats perhaps not quite right (or fair on my part)).

The 'money to replace them' argument concerns me greatly. I wonder how it will affect the prospect of the youth team and how much it will affect players who need a run in the team to get their form back?

If the cry is to buy a replacement then it'll not be good. I feel that generally the most consistent player are those that don't feel under pressure of being axed (or who have been told that they are being axed and there is no more uncertainty). That's certainly true away from football so why shouldn't it be true in football?
